Why Do Huskies Talk So Much? ( Vocal Husky )

Chances are, you've seen the YouTube videos of Huskies yapping and howling- even sounding like they're speaking words once in a while.

Why do Huskies talk so much?

Not only that, but why does it seem that they talk more than other breeds of dogs?

Huskies are highly vocal due to how closely related they are to their wolf ancestors.

As pack animals, wolves are very vocal to those within the pack, as that is how they communicate with one another.

If your Husky is vocal with you, it's because it sees you as a part of its pack, if not the leader.

More Siberian Husky facts in the video.

My husky is super super quiet. At home she never barks, howls or talks. She only whines quietly sometimes if she wants something. Short and rare bouts of barking are reserved only if she is playing with another dog. She is way quieter than my golden retriever used to be, rest in peace good boy.

My theory was that huskies are the one breed that's noticed these hairless apes are always making noises, so they should be too!

What howling means to...
Other breeds: I call to you fellow canines. We are strong! We are wild. Be ready to unite!
Huskies: Yo! Just listen to my voice! Isn't it just beautiful? Just listen!

My husky is broken. He doesn't howl, yip, or whatever else you said. He definitely barks. Wife and I think it's because we have two smaller dogs and because we've had the husky since he was 9 weeks, he's developed 'differently'.

I have a nine years husky, DAKA, he is a quiet type. Never howls, very calm yet intelligent. He can make every guest massage and pet him.

One time he is yelping for days, because his shoulder tendon got twisted due to cycling with my husband. But after we massaged him, he is alright.

Husky drama :)

I have a Husky/German Shepard mix, and he's not super noisy, but still vocal somewhat often. He doesn't make the usual noises though. Most of the time, it's a deep sound.

My dog is a husky, shepherd, and greyhound mix and she definitely loves to talk lol. If I bring her to petsmart that’s when she the most vocal then anywhere else and one time I went to a restaurant with a friend and we both had our dogs, you have to go inside to get to the outdoor seating area where they allow diners pets to be, inside and outside she was very vocal and it was to the point where the restaurant asked us to leave because she was too vocal.

I don't have a Husky myself but my 2 year old German Shep Collie mix likes to talk to me when he sees me getting my jacket on, because he knows that I'm going out.

I think humans and dogs once had a common language (combination of vocal and body language.) These were the ancient humans that domesticated dogs and needed them to survive. We see it in dogs. They listen so well to our speech, can learn up to 1, 000+ words, and can even mimic our language (not made for them.) The humans that talked to dogs likely went extinct (my guess is around the end of the ice age 11, 000 BC) but left their dogs to survive and meet up with the farming humans or new hunter gather groups. That's my theory anyway. I taught my dog to speak vocally. They have everything they need for verbal language. They can speak "Denglish' (dog dialect English that uses fillers for consonant sounds like "d" and "g" that dogs can't say.)

My German Shepherd male, Reese, is VERY talkative. Lol. He always has a LOT to say. They're another vocal breed. If they have something on their minds, you'll know it! 😂

My two (female) Huskies only howl when my Rottweiler starts to howl. My eldest husky of much less vocal than her younger sister...

Does anyone else think that huskies sound like cosmo from fairly odd parents ?

They are not temper tantrums. Toddlers, and dogs don’t have temper tantrums. They are expressing themselves as best they can. Out of control adults have temper tantrums.

Mine does all, including barking all the time. She barks rather then trying to talk. She won’t try to speak, she just barks or wines.
