Another common mistake is giving up after missing one day or failing to be consistent when hardships come your way. Say, you're trying to work out every day and then you oversleep and end up skipping one day, the next day you are disappointed in yourself and decide to give up on it altogether. Forgive yourself, then try again.
Some advice from Matt D'Avella that has really stuck with me is to try to never skip two days in a row. Once you have a cheat day, enjoy it, but don't get stuck there. Start over, like in a video game, and keep going.
Great video, as always. Your videos act as gentle reminders not to give up on my goals, so thank you.

1. Start small
2. Realize that not everything is going to turn out as planned and that unexpected stuff can always happen
3. Stick to your habits by for example make a bet with a friend or download apps (kind of a motivation or a reason to stick to your habits)
4. You need a strong reason to achieve your goal otherwise you will loose motivation
That's all I got hope that helps😁

*Summary of the video:*

1) 0:38
Jumping into the deep end and taking on too many habits at once. Start small.

2) 2:26
Assuming there is no chimp. Essentially, there is always a "chimp" ready to throw a spanner into your habits, being unexpected and ruining something. People tend to think that there is no such "chimp", which is a big mistake.

3. 4:55
Choosing not to sit beneath the sword.
This mistake is where people choose not to set consequences for failure of a habit. With no consequences, they often lack the self-discipline to stick to those habits.

4) 7:05
Trying to build a habit without a strong personal reason. Before setting a habit, you should have a good personal reason to do so, instead of copying someone else's habit that doesn't apply to you. Other people learn differently from you, and you should find the best way to do it yourself.

Solid advice as always. The scientific reason for that is also interesting. When we do things over and over, our synapses (junction between two neurons) become more strong, making them easier to initiate and difficult to get rid of. So repeat the good habits until your synapses are strong enough to last a life time.

I got a Tai Lopez ad before your video... and then you made a hilarious impersonation of him at the end of the video. That was perfect :-)

Me and my friend got the best commitment device going on. He's currently programming a game and I'm writing a novel. If i finish my first draft before he does finish his first version of the game I'll get 50 bucks. If he manages to be quicker I'll give him 50.

Hey man I just want to let you know that I've just finished my first year of university, and your videos helped a lot along the way. I started watching at the beginning of grade 12 to prepare. My first year is over, I've got mostly A's or A+ in my classes with a few B's.

Thanks for your work, you've made my university experience much more enjoyable and less stressful.

Cheers,
Nick

your music sounds good! You are very motivating. I discovered your channel in 2017 when my professor for Psychology of Adjustment gave us additional reference links which included one of your videos. I am trying to build a habit right now to study for the GRE every day. It’s so hard to even start!

I can tell that the music you produced for this video was inspired by Death Note's soundtrack. It sounds fantastic, dude.
