Keep in mind this will only work as long as you haven't upgraded or changed any hardware (graphics card / ram etc...) When you install an OS for the first time it installs and configures to your current hardware setup (physical parts of your pc). You won't be able to copy your current OS to a new drive and place in a new PC. The configuration would be wrong. Just a tip for anyone who is looking to build their own PC. You'll have to install a fresh version of your OS.

I'm curious if you did this with a tablet that has XP tablet edition and switched the hard drive to a new computer could you use hirens boot CD to enter into mini XP and fix the errors you would encounter with hardware incompatibility

Very informative video. I have a question. So I have two computers. I have an HP and a Toshiba. Sadly the hard drives on both failed. I replaced the hard drive I had in my Toshiba with another hard drive. Unfortunately, my Toshiba had a 64 bit OS on it and the hard drive I replaced it with has a 32 bit OS on it. Now my HP hard drive keeps telling me that I have a Smart Disk error and that it is pretty much in hospice right now. The OS contained on this hard drive is a Windows 8.1. Is there a way that I can clone just my Windows 8.1 OS from my HP hard drive and move it to the new hard drive that is in my Toshiba?

will this work from SSD to HDD? i have a 64 gig ssd on my laptop as well as a 1 TB HDD. the ssd is full so i want to move stuff over to the HDD to clear up more room =)

So, this might be a dumb question, but I'm not pro with software.. I would be looking to completely build a new PC, and if I have the windows disk and key and stuff, would I need to do this? Or could I just install it from the disk? If I installed it from the disk with the key and stuff, wouldn't the key already be registered to my old PC and not my new one? (I wouldn't be moving the hard drive over because I would be selling my old PC)
