Install Windows directly from the Hard Drive - No CD/DVD/USB Needed - MBR Partitions ONLY!

Tools Used: CMD, diskpart, and some patience.
You will need an external enclosure or 2nd pc to do this.
Really easy and really fast.

Ok guys for those who are stuck with 2 boot selections now just log into windows and do the following:


start run msconfig. click on the boot tab and you will see two entries. one say windows 10 (C:\windows) and the other says setup. just delete the setup one and reboot.

Man, I just want to say thank you. Thank you so much! I've been trying to clean install windows on my laptop for 3 days. This is my first time doing this kind of thing and had encountered errors like orange screen with white stripes to drive drivers not found, and even an endless loop of install now screen. These are the problems I had to deal with with a bootable usb. I've tried making it with the official windows creation tool and rufus many times, and it only gave me problems. Thank you so much man! I had a Dell laptop with a failed hard disk. The BIOS was locked so I couldn't change the boot settings to install Windows 10 on the new drive. Your method got around the problem... with the added advantage of a much faster install. A big, big thankyou from Mr Lawrence Computing (BURY, UK)

This works great! After you finish the command prompt stuff, but before you use the drive to do an install, you can make an image of the drive.
I used Ghost to store an image on my workbench PC. The next time you want to do an install, just Ghost that image back on to your new
drive and it's ready to use, no need for the command prompt partition stuff.

You can also copy a folder of drivers and other programs you might need after the install onto the HDD at this time.
They won't interfere with the install. It's nice to have them ready in one place, rather than trying to find and transfer them all later.

Thanks for this! My old Dell xps refused to install OS from usb, no matter what the bios settings. Direct from hard drive did the trick!
