Heroic Game Launcher is AWESOME!
I haven't set it up on Linux yet, but on MacOS it works well.
I attempted to use Bottles when it was first released, but I wasn't having much luck with it; I'll have to check it out again. Doing a Fresh Debian 12 Install this Morning.
Thanks for the Walkthru!

Bottles is AWESOME so I donate a small amount to them every month but I use/purchase Crossover because of all the work the CodeWeavers do to Wine. I pretty much exclusively use Steam so I don't really need to work around non-steam games.

FYI: The Finals has worked with Proton for a few weeks now.

I prefer Heroic for game launcher/library. With Lutris as backup, though mainly just for emulator games. Bottles for me is mainly for running a game quickly with from file manager, and for managing wine prefixes. Also, Lutris worked great for me from Flatpak. Plus, some of the complicated wineprefixes for running visual novels just cannot be done on Bottles, unfortunately.

I've been using Linux for a long time but only switched my game library over. I had about 35 games on Windows 10 and figured I'd be lucky to get half of them working. Only *one* failed to work, and that was because of Easy Anticheat. Of those that worked, only one required any tinkering whatsoever, and that just to choose a different Proton version. Everything else *just worked*. I am *extremely* impressed.

Michael, all I can say is wow I love Linux! And your videos are entertaining and educational to me!

It's an older video and I don't know if you're reading this post. What I would like to say is thank you. I have already tried it in the past with Linux and was thrilled. Unfortunately, for me as a gamer, it was quickly over. But thanks to the compatibility, the tide has now turned and videos like yours have made me take another look at the system. What can I say - it runs like a dream and sometimes games better than on windows. People, take your time, learn how linux works and switch. I use Fedora 41 and it runs like clockwork and everything is nice and tidy and the software offer is also great. No bloatware, no inconsistency - it's a new feeling of using a pc. <3

Yeah Lutris always shits the bed on me too. It's odd that it was, at one point in time, the most recommended package for people trying to play a game or two on Linux. It's a lot easier to just set up an environment with Bottles like you've shown in the video. Good stuff.

Lutris is my go to atm. Tried to play Epic Games GTA V on Heroic launcher but the horrible audio static like bug forced me to try Lutris and it is much better over there with the same performance as Heroic. Never had a good time with Bottles before. It has always been Steam and Lutris on Linux for me.

I honestly like Lutris's UI more, but I've had MUCH better luck getting some more unusual programs running in Bottles thanks to the isolation

Thank you you MR Michael And Happy New year

Lutris seemed easier at first, but now I install games using Bottles. You start with more of a blank slate but it's easier to understand what you are doing with it; less automation means you can solve problems when they arise.

If/when you figure out a way to play Destiny 2 without the possibility of being banned on Linux, please make a video about it. Thanks for all the hard work you do!
