Honestly, since you can add other games to Steam, I don't even tend to need Lutris.

Heres a explanation of how proton works in a short:
Basically, proton is a upgraded wine. Wine, works this way where it translates windows API calls, to linux API calls. It also translates directX to opengl and vulkan. This way, its possible to play games on linux. But - this doesnt mean that you can play every game. Most games require either an anticheat to work, or the proton team didnt fix a game yet. Many games may have graphical gliches, as in shader glitches etc, or may crash randomly, because wine doesnt know what to do.

Only reason I haven't gone over is cause of my audio setup being voided if I move off of windows.

Ive been playing with proton for some games and its work well. Only thing is i still play only on windows since like easy anticheat games

If you intend on using your computer for playing games, why would you use Linux? If you're using it as a server computer, sure, but if its the beefy computer you better have a very good reason to be using anything other than windows
