We got to thank Valve for their efforts a lot

Linux increases performance on low ends too, like when using dxvk and proton it raised 15-20 to 20 to 40. Crazy!!! (ofc by sacrificing battery life)

Sold my pc when I moved out my parents and I didn't play games for 3 years. I decided to treat myself and get a steamdeck; the desktop ecosystem is so good I've ditched my laptop and do everything from a Galaxy tab 6lite and the steamdeck. It really is awesome and punches way above its weight.

It's funny how people say that Linux isn't even in the conversation for gaming didn't even make research before coming up with these conclusions.

I can already see a future where mobile linux distros existing and using proton inside that

I believe one day in time linux will over take Microsoft but people are brainwashed thinking Windows is the best OS

Nearly all games I've ever played on Steam either have native or really good wine support. Generally, I take a failing wine run to be a litmus test that whatever game probably requires something I don't want running on my pc anyway.

The issue tho is that native linux ports of games are usually really badly made to the point where windows game on proton/wine simply work better than actual native ports
Which is I guess good from the perspective of people who want to switch from windows to linux but keep their games, however a tiny bit less great in terms of windows' massive monopoly on the market

There are even more games that are "not supported" by valves testing but work with simple workarounds.

I have been using linux mint for a year now and never had any issues with gaming. I don't need to use terminal, everything just works. Much better than windows imo.

Right now Linux Mint requires less tinkering and workarounds compared to windows. Everything just works out of the box.

And that's why I practically switch to PC (Linux), I have PS5 but if I want to buy a game that I know I will mod or I want more performance I use pc

I have a pc with 10700k and 3060ti...built in 2022..., but now as I have to travel a lot for weeks to diff. places. I'm not able to play games.., so should I buy a gaming laptop or a steam deck.

Also, there are more games than run on linux/proton than steam verified.

I think Valve's decision is better for them and for the consumers which is nice. 💯
