I really love how they make it very clear in every episode that checking forums and being apart of the car community is an essential part in understanding your car.

Imagine if this series goes on for years and he ends up with a 600 horsepower miata 😂

I like installing intakes on every vehicle, it’s nice to hear the air rush into throttle. It’s usually an immediate upgrade, but even better with a tune.

I think the sound is the main reason that I like them. The sound alone makes you feel like you're going faster lol. So any difference that it made is enhanced by the noise I feel. Maybe I'm weird but I never leave any of those stock air snorkel things. I always got it and have straight piping right up to the throttle body

"anyone want this air filter?"
*throws it on the ground*
Everyone: not anymore!

I like how he answers the question in the first few seconds then goes through explaining why and what to get. Donut is really unmatched

He does a great job of breaking down the performance and relevance of specific parts for viewers who might not be as “car savvy” to understand the functionality, much appreciated

Worth noting that K&N filters are less restrictive and let more particles in. On a racecar that you take out on weekends, sure. But if you want to use your vehicle for as long as mechanically possible, a normal disposable paper air filter would be a safer choice in terms of reliability.

It’s like if Science Garage and ChrisFix had a kid and made Money Pit

If your filter is clogged/dirty the car just has allergies.

On my 95 4runner I put on a cold air intake and it helped a lot! Made it sound better, and gave a bit of extra power. Plus it was easy to clean and put back rather than buying a new filter each time

I've seen this video about 15 times because this is an awesome series to watch. But every time I watch it, I am always caught off guard with the gunshot. That has to be the best edit I have ever seen! It's so funny and I never expect it which makes it even better!

The gun shot when he was using the drill made me jump. I thought he shorted the battery

I had the RB intake, with RB headers and muffler on my NB2 and it sounded amazing. Have that 1.8 a nice rumble, almost like a wrx. Loved it

That shot tho. Had to go back and make sure the drill didn’t actually blow up

but my Cobb intake comes with a cool sticker and makes whooshing noises!

Saw a very thorough analysis comparing air filters. It's true that more porous filters provide a small boost in performance, however, they also allow a corresponding increase in particles getting into the engine. So, the tradeoff is a 1/10 or 2/10ths in 0-60 time, but more engine wear. No free lunch.

Previous owner of my Miata installed a similar intake. I absolutely hate it though because it prevents the hood from coming all the way down on that side of the car. I don't know why most people don't duct the intake into the Miata's "mouth" instead of keeping it in the warm engine bay.
