Do cold air intakes (CAI) actually bring in colder air and save you fuel mileage in the end saving you money!? I did some testing before AND after the installation and am sharing the results with you guys! Enjoy!

“Babe it’s saving us $$$!” Haha 😂😂😂. Love the continuation of the content, John. CAI and exhaust are the next two things I’m looking to do with my Silverado.

I recently installed an S&B CAI on my car for just over $300. It definitely breaths easier than stock, and works better than I was anticipating. It won't give you a huge increase in horsepower on its own, but it's still noticeable. And the exhaust is noticeably louder when accelerating over 3k rpms. I'd recommend it, as it's a fun and easy performance mod.

Glad you recovered from that motorcycle injury...God Bless

Your running a open box so of course it is pulling engine heat in. To see a difference you need a closed system pulling air from somewhere besides the engine bay

Just watched this because I am researching cold air intake for my Honda Pilot and your video was very informative. Even though you didn't put this video with visuals quite like you wanted to, it was very well done and very helpful. Thank you for putting this together and sharing this content.

Congratulations for verifying what I've been saying since "cold air intakes" hit the suck in hot engine compartment air, which is less dense, and contains less oxygen as a result, making less power. The factory air duct system actually brings in cooler air from in front of the radiator (typically) and REMOVING that fresh air system for something that draws in air from the hot engine compartment is ridiculous, from a power making standpoint. The 1 mpg increase seems real and is interesting though. So glad you were able to recover from your injuries. Please stay away from motorcycles. The old timers saying is "There's 2 kinds of motorcycle riders; those who have laid a bike down, and those who are going to lay a bike down." Stay safe.

You are really good at taking what could have been a 30 second video and making it 10 minutes.

I had one on my 2015 Dodge Charger RT and it made the car get SUPER HOT at drive thrust....Then as I drove, it was always about 13 degrees hotter than ambient temperature. It sounded way better and I just was ok with the heat it sucked from the engine bay. Sold it and stock back on. I feel the heat will mess up something with time.

My CAI was designed to go down in my fender well. It made a big difference since it wasn't on top.

Thanks for this. I just bought my 2014 that already had the same CAI installed, and was curious about the numbers.

How about a review of the S&B cold air intake? Like the one on the 2010 gmc.

Thanks for the breakdown dude. Gee if there was only a duct in the front. Eh so why did the exhaust decrease the mpg? Do you have to tune or would you try that to gain performance or mileage? Have you noticed the engine temperature? My rig always runs about 210 ( on the display ).. I've thought about running a colder thermostat and then getting a tune with both of these mods.

AFE Momentum GT cold air intake!! Definitely worth it! More Power - More Torque ... no tuning necessary, and it's a Closed Box design VS your open shield that kinda deflects engine heat.
You're gonna get what you pay for.

I just have it for looks and the sound of the intake 😁

I am thinking of installing a short ram in my acura TL purely for throttle response. The Dbw sucks. It is also easier to clean and replace the ram filter. I drive 90 percent highway so my intake temperature may be more stable.
