I’ve found that the sound is a lot better for me. My car in the summer usually would perform a lot worse then the winter and when I got a cold air intake, it feels all the same year round and it sounds a lot better and makes the car a lot more fun to drive.

I added headers the same time I did a full cold air intake on my Acura tl so I think I got a bit more out of that intake than compared to the stock manifolds. I'm able to pull more air in and actually expel it much faster.

2005 Silverado 5.3 I kept my intake box and swapped out the tube to a much bigger one. Definitely better than stock and now it’s a real cold air

Great video
Iv used cold air intakes in the past. Didn’t really notice big difference in performance maybe a little. On my gen 6 camaro took that flex rubber coupler u pointed out off placed a strait silicone coupler instead. Then bought a couple good panel filters like to have 2 so when ones wet after cleaning dont have to wait to dry. Ported my air intake manifold went with a bigger throttle body just because i had one laying around. Made my own TB adapter plate after everything maybe $150 into it all. No tune yet been poor waiting to get my HP tuner tools. Have to say definitely feel something didn’t know if it was in my head. My wife drives car more than i do back and forth to work. Didn’t tell her anything about what iv done asked her if car felt any different than usual. She said that it felt faster idk if she knows but for around $150 little bit of work indignity definitely worth it lol!! Didn’t want to waste money on cold air intake because for one idk if there worth it for me. Second I have turbos for car just haven’t had time or money to install. So cold air intake would definitely be wasted money because after turbos wont need the CAI.
I believe what u say because I know u know ur stuff someone i can trust as always. Iv watched these videos with 15-30 hp gains in the past I wanted to believe them. But after my experiences with the CAI iv used im on same page as u.
Thank u kyle

Good video, thx.
I'm not gonna change my factory air box.Changing the tube might be okay though a drop in wix seen on a filter comparison keeps more dirt out and performs well.Arizona dust can be a problem for off roaders here so, I don't want to chance it.A good tune, ported LT1 manifold and headers should make my 1SS romp.

Some cars do benefit from bolt ons. For the 2012 Mazda 3 Skyactiv, just going to 93 the ecu changed some parameters and picked up 7hp, and the stock exhaust has 4-2-1 long tube headers so intake + 2.5L Skyactiv throttle + exhaust does add a bit of To a 155hp 2.0L econobox. The Skyactiv does have 13:1 compression and GDI too

Most cai use the factory wheelwell intake for air, so it doesnt much other than maybe a free-er flowing filter. But like on my challenger, i have the headlight insert punched out, so now i have a ram air intake, so that helps.

A cold air intake might not have the biggest effect on higher priced sports/muscle cars but on my bmw 535i it definitely made a difference with the noise/throttle response. It gave around 10hp as well

That’s true, you can’t feel the difference installing CAI if you don’t upgrade IM, TB PORTED RUNNERS etc.. but lean problem comes then time to tune😊

Would love to see a video comparison on a custom aluminum intake vs the plastic ones, I was told that running an aluminum intake will make your IATs run much higher thus killing some hp, thanks for the video and ABT👍

I think most cold air intake swaps are more phsycological... I also add that I bought and installed one on a stock motor. I too thought it was faster but in reality it just made it sounds fast and I wanted to be faster so thus the butt dyno saying wow this thing gained a full second. Then I cammed the truck and put a top end on and was like, now thats gains!

I haven't watched the video yet but I jus put a cold air intake on my gen3 silverado and it helped my truck!! It wouldn't spin a tire from a stop b4 and now it does! Throttle response is better also!

Have you air filter out and away from heat not under hood or near engine. Porting also works.

Always saw a noticeable improvement in power and MPG, but you have to have it in a place where it'll get good airflow or it's not going to work well.

Sounds like I definitely need a tune then. I changed my intake manifold and intake from 3" to 4". What I've noticed is the car drive good with about 20% throttle...sounds good and pulls hard. 50-100% throttle and it feels sluggish. The intake is louder, but feels as if it struggling under heavy throttle. Thanks for the video.

people say cold air intakes dont work yet on all high hp cars hellcats etc you got huge cold air intakes its not even just about hp numbers its about throttle response and breather at higher rpm dynos cant simulate cars under load its the more about the feel then just the hp gain
