REFURBISHING our OLD STERNDRIVE | YACHT REBUILD WEEK 52

(Ep.61)
We get started restoring & making our Volvo Stern Drive look fancy schmancy again! She was definitely neglected & needed some good ol loving & now she looks brand new again! Can't wait to get her installed! We also took apart our engine so we could remove her off the boat without needing to bring in a crane.... she was still heavy as hell but with some help from our marina friends we got her down in no time. She will be getting the necessary TLC she needs to ensure she gives us many safe miles on her if need be.

Thanks for watching! Appreciate all the kind comments, thumbs up & subscribes!

Thanks for giving Moses lots of skills. Go Moses! Go Moses! We need a Moses fan club. He needs his own Instagram page.

Great job guys, best feeling in the world is going from rusty dirty parts, to new paint. I just moved 2 wood furnaces alone in the snow in Norway, so i get your pain, suffering... and beer thirst haha.

Your hard work and skills are impressive. Im starting my competent crew on Monday. Sail from Cape Town to Guadeloupe in a week or so after that. Got kitted out by quiver with some awesome gear. Starting my channel in the next few days. Hope to see you along the way. Not a lot of south African sailing channels out there.

It seems like, by the time you're done, half the boat will be made of epoxy!

Good job on that leg Ricky. Make sure the shaft is smooth and you have a nice lip seal in the steering otherwise you get a waterleak through this shaft. Don’t ask me how I know but it’s not nice to have to redo when it’s all together

Also remember to change the gear oil in the sterndrive, if the oil is grey you must change the rubber seals.

My Pop used to say, “If the Egyptians could lift and move blocks to build the pyramids, we can move this.” Worked for me over the years.

Hey guys if you get an anode it will reduce corrosion on your engine leg.
