Dealer is going to help in more ways than one. Not only will they let you know what should be replaced, because it may fail in the next 10 years... But they will make your boat sit higher in the water due to your wallet being lighter.

A lot of people like to service their own drives, would be nice to get a more detailed service tutorial from a expert like this.

Hilarious that they say this isn’t a diy service item. Maybe not for everyone, but this is very easy for a lot of DIYers

Stealership is not trying to take your money and do you a favor. BS

There is absolutely no reason whatsoever that a boat owner should not be able to preform these services on their own. A little bit of knowledge and elbow grease will save you thousands in Labor charges over the years.

If you want a boat with one of these drives you have 2 choices = 1. You will spend a lot of time & work on it (which I enjoy) OR 2. You will spend a lot of $$ on it. 3. would be some combination of the first 2.

Getting an appointment to get a dealer to do this, let alone the cost, makes 'yearly' very difficult. Is it necessary to do yearly rather than go by a certain number of hours?

Replace all that stuff yearly? I would suggest not getting a stern drive.
