As a computer engineer major, this is just ridiculous. you don't even need university for this, you just need to watch one pc building yt video.

This is a prime example of how education does not equal intelligence.

As a CS major I can assure you, the first few classes are in fact teaching about the hardware and how it works as we need a strong understanding of them in order to program efficiently

Ain't no way I'm spending $800+ to build a PC and not sitting here for 6 hours watching tutorials to make sure I don't fuck it up.

I built my first pc a few days ago, and it went really well! But I spent weeks before hand watching videos from youtubers like you, Jayztwocents, and others. As well as working out compatability, performance and pricing. I feel bad for this dude, but he should have done his homework for his build.

him being a CS major isn't an excuse. At my university one of the required classes for first semester freshmen is: ITN 107 - Personal Computer Hardware and Troubleshooting its one of the first classes you have to take.

"...at least 20mins of research" is a bit of an understatement (even with the "at least"). Took me a week and a half of online research (give or take) before I was confident enough to build my first PC.

I was an IT major, and am currently going for my Microsoft Azure certification’s. However, I’m also a computer technician, and have building PC’s for over 10 years. This is what inspired me to grow into the software / IT side of things, because that is where the real money is made!

I studied computer science myself and no, computer science at least in germany isn't just programming etc. - you can go in multiple different directions and I was always more of a hardware person than a programmer and I build my first PC when I was 8.

As a comp sci major, we learn about computer architecture and computer parts and the things needs to keep those parts running. This guy isn’t a comp sci major 💀

Edit: Guys I could care less what your interpretation of comp sci is or what it teaches. Going based off what I’ve learned in uni and what to me common knowledge is within that field.

Must be the sort of guy that puts coolant in the engine of his car instead of the radiator.

Me as an animator, even me i knew that thermal paste needs to be placed on top of the CPU, and CPU Cooler is a 100% needed to cool down the CPU

But fundamental CS does teach you about hardware

Lol this actually reminds me when once i paste thermal paste inside core 2 processor when i was 11 with no pc knowledge assuming that how thermal paste works 😂 and thinking my pc gonna be fixed as the motherboard was dead.
