The water slide valves of the sprinkler system are only used to open and close the water supply during repair work. The sprinkler systems must be under pressure in order to function. The fire brigade does not have to open the system to put out the fire, of course, as such a system would not serve its purpose. Sprinkler systems are designed to bridge the time until the fire brigade arrives so that the fire does not spread too much.

I learned the Basic Stuff aboute the Sign´s as a Kid, every 1st Saturday in every Month we got a Fire Fighter Training-Alarm.
So it´s kinda normal that you See them in Action, while Testing Hydrant´s and their Equipment.

I also grew up far away from any City´s. So i feel Lucky to Say: I can´t Tell what it´s like in the Cities.
