A lot of people and animals DESPISE flies they bug me a lot too sometimes but true story flies saved one of dog's life! He had a a horrible leg wound that could not be sewed up so it just had to heal by granulation but it got badly infected oozing pus but? House Flies to the rescue! Flies laid eggs in the wound which hatched into larvae (maggots) and THEY ate ALL the infection out and kept the wound clean! My vet says they saved my dog! I learned there are to this day medical maggots doctors use even with people! So flies DO have their uses! BTW my current dog wierdly enjoys flies! He actually runs around looking for em making a game of chasing them....yes he is a bit odd but I love him a lot

Hate to say there ARE flies (not house flies) that DO have biting mouth parts! Like horse flies? They can HURT too! But not regular house flies they only annoy us
