If you're wondering how to kill a lawn or grass and start over, here's one way to do it. This is step 1 for our lawn renovation of my side yard and I am using glyphosate to kill this small section. I am a little behind schedule of when I wanted to start spraying to kill this area but this chemical will speed up the process a bit.

I completely killed my back yard lawn earlier this spring, and seeing the blue dye in the hand sprayer is brilliant. Wish I knew about it then.

I miss these OG intros. Googled searched this video instead of going back through all your vids and it came up right away! Awesome content over these many years. Here comes the reno!!! Wish me luck! #sissygrass

Finally! Someone who tells me exactly what I need to know and exactly how i need to do it and when. Idk why but this guy made it so clear, vs the other 5 videos I've watched on the topic.

What i picked up from this video: around July, or 10 weeks prior to the first frost, put round up in a sprayer (per instruction, and also one with a blue dye) and spray the entire area you want to work on. End of step one

Got it. Good to go, man. This is a guy that i can learn from.

In sunny areas a rather organic way to kill a lawn is to cover it with black plastic. I watched them do this when extending the grounds at Motorola Satcom in Chandler AZ. If you have some tent stakes from camping you might be able to do it by purchasing ~20 size=huge garbage bags, cutting them open, taping them together, and working your way around the lawn, maybe kill it in 2-3 cover-ups. The sun / heat under the black plastic will kill / sterilize everything..

I rented not only a full size kubota with a brush hog... (i was out of town for over a month).. But mowed after with my cubcadet... Whilst spraying with a tow behind sprayer at 2% glyposate.... And I've done this twice... Four weeks in... It won't die!

LOL! I was thinking the same thing with that die. Crap my neighbors are going to think I’m trying to paint my grass green.

This stuff works great! Tractor Supply sells it pretty cheap if you need it right away.. Only thing I would be careful is if you have hills, careful of run off when it rains.. I did an garden area that was full of weeds and I notice a week later I had this flow of dead grass from it..

For me it starts off slow, you won't start seeing anything going on for about 5 days..but then you see everything turn brown/yellow pretty fast after.

Our back yard is quite big (20k sq ft) and the back half of it is full of huge lumps and bumps (think 7” deep/high) and there are sticks coming out of the ground all over it. Been looking for advice everywhere and I think I’m going to have to just blast it and start over. Was hoping to do it cheaper but I have a feeling it’s going to be a pretty penny.

I just sprayed down 4 fills over a 1200 sf area of my lawn on the 28th. Best of luck to us both and I'll be looking for your updates.

I love the creativity of the cross hatch pattern but I just opt for wildflowers instead of grass personally. Luckily I don't have an hoa

I learned of a concoction that guarantees to kill everything.
Mix glypho, triclopyr, and tenacity together. Boom, Dragon's breath! Gives you a nice pre-emergent that wont stop grass seed germination.

I'm actually about to renovate my backyard so it's almost go time for me as well. Been waiting on patio guys to come in to do the patio before I get too far into this.

I had a section i wanted to start agan and kill existing. I had a bunch of roof shingles. I scalped the area with the mower, then put the shingles over the area and bags of topsoil on top. The grass died in a week and it was organic and ready to put seeds on right away.

I’m familiar with the required steps to start over to create a new lawn and recognize that autumn is the preferred season to do so. But, I want to do a start over in the spring and want to know how to kill my dormant lawn? Any advice would be appreciated.

I have to do exactly this to the back yard this spring. Leveling everything and doubling the size of the back yard. Out with the old junk and in with the nice new level (slopes away from the house) but bringing in some clean fill/loam and hopefully I’ll have a nice lush back yard about 6000 sq ft this spring summer. 😎😎😎

We are in the same boat, last week i began to kill my front yard. I'm anxious waiting for the fall season to start seeding. I know your lawn will turn out great, i hope mine does too. It's my first time but following instructions from your videos and Grass Daddy i will be fine. Thank you!!!
