Its a good argument for weeds, but i also like a small patch of clean lawn for looks and bare-footing. I grow many flowering plants around the lawn. For those who argue its depriving wildlife, so is your house, your deck and the streets and sidewalks. Plant flower gardens in andaround the grass and find balance

My yard was full of capeweed and barely any grass. I spent weeks just pulling out the capeweed. Once I got most of it, I hosed on a Weed and Feed which forces the weeds to grow uncontrollably until they die. It worked quite well. Each time a patch opened up, I got grass seed in there regardless of the season, and then I did a dethatch, plug, overseed and topdress in autumn. Now the lawn is looking 100x better. Still a little way to go, but now my neighbours comment on the lawn so I guess I've done something right!

Hi Robbie, great video, and thanks for taking the time out for making the footage.
I have a large area of grass at the bottom of my garden that I recovered from a wilderness when we bought the piece of land off the local housing association. We had big plans for the area, but unfortunately I was diagnosed with Parkinsons in 2017.
The grass in this area seems to grow at a much faster rate than the lawn nearer to the house. After a last cut in October I have to leave the area alone over the winter and come March the grass just seems to shoot up.
My question is do grasses grow at a different rate?
Is there any way I can stunt the growth of this fast growing piece of the garden?
Thanks

Im in a battle with daisies and dandelions on the lawn. I have been lifting the turf with a pitch fork to loosen the roots, using a trowel to lift them and just pulling them straight out by hand. It's nice to do later on these summer nights 👍

I like how you first bring up the benefits of the weeds before you tell us how to kill them. Giving them a fair trial lol

Hi Robbie. My 90 year old mother loves her large lawned garden. This year she is consumed in digging up any lawn daisies that she finds. She tells me that they are spread by their seeds but I have never seed them with seed heads. I have always thought that they spread under the soil by their roots. I am not trying to stop her way of trying to get rid of them as its keeping her active but it is interesting to know how they propagate themselves. I cant find any way on the internet how to eradicate them other than digging up and we would never use weed killer. Please help.
Regards Theresa.

Hi Robbie, I first did not mind the white clover in my lawn and throught as you do, it's good for the bees. Nature did not thank me for that, because meanwhile in some patches I have more clover than grass. Clover seems to be stronger than grass, so in the long run you don't do yourself a favour to tolerate this weed.

Dandelion is the most persistent. Easy to dig them out with a fork; get root or it will grow back; if flowering don’t leave flower on ground as it will turn to seed even after lifting- best to get them as soon as they flower, or preferably before.
