DIY genius trick to eliminate mosquitoes in your yard for pennies. Quick, easy and safe for people, pets, and plants. The four corners method mosquito control kills them and keeps them to a minimum. It kills the mosquitoes in the breeding stage, so it kills from the eggs to the larva to the nymph stages so they never get to mature to be the blood sucking insects.

(One. Two. Three. Four. Mosquitoes no more. To control mosquitoes in your yard, let's do the "four corners" method mosquito control. Start with getting four containers that you're going to put outside in your yard. Fill each container with a few inches of water. On top of that, add some grass, leaves or other organic matter that you can find. Mosquitoes want still water to lay their eggs. Then add an appropriate amount of mosquito bits or mosquito dunks. This nontoxic bacteria kills mosquito larva and is people plant and pet safe. Place the containers with the water and grass and bits in a shady spot in your yard. Even though it's safe, don't let your pets drink it. Wait for about ten days, which is the average mosquito life cycle, and you will notice a significant drop of mosquitoes in their yard. By doing this, you'll devastate the mosquito cycle (the mosquitoes won't be able to reproduce locally in your yard) so there will be less mosquitoes to breed. This devastating cycle continues unless mosquitoes fly in from your neighborhood or your neighbor's yard. But if they lay eggs in your yard, they will also be sorry. We saw about a 95% reduction of mosquitoes using this method. If you want to know more, check out my longer YouTube video.)

I hear a black bucket is more effective in attracting the mosquitos because they love dark places, that's why there out mostly at night. The sun irritates them, from a video I watched on DIY

Drill a hole in the buckets at the level where you want the water to remain. That way, if it rains, the excess water will drain out. Also might want to add a few more BT granules after a heavy rain.

Another trick I learned used the 5gal buck with some water too but instead of mosquito bits, you add some sugar, yeast & a very small amount of dish soap. This is more of a trap. They're attracted to co2, that's how they find you, specially at nite.
The yeast begins to eat the sugar, basic fermention process & creates co2. As they enter the bucket & try to land on the water, they sink because the soap breaks the water surface.
This is a great setup if you're planning on having a nite outside with friends & family & don't want to be eaten alive lol. Put a few of these around the area early in the day to allow the yeast to really get fermenting.

I've been making these Buckets of Doom for the last 2 years. Mosquitoes circle around the buckets, so I know they're probably laying their eggs there. No larvae in the buckets. However, the mosquito issue is roughly the same. As the video says, I'm probably getting them from my neighbors

Add a stick so critters can escape if they happen to fall in the bucket. According to the instructions on the container: Mosquito Bits should be applied every 7-14 days. For longer lasting effectiveness, use Mosquito Dunks.

Just going to ask what if a deer finds it and wants a drink ?? 😅 good to know. I recently found out dragon flys are good exterminators 5 adults can take out out up to 10, 000 mosquitoes a day. I started planting flowers to attract them and I’ve been bitten less. But now I’ve a new problem swarms of giant dragon flies so maybe don’t listen to me.

This works but the problem is everyone lives on top of each other and not everyone is doing it.

Use a black bucket instead. It works like a charm and you won’t even need grass clippings.

I made covers of 1/4 " garden mesh and drilled a few holes to attach it with zip ties. This keeps birds and pets safe.
However, I did not see a noticeable reduction in mosquitos

I'm making dragonfly perches with a bucket of water to attract a feast for them.

Living near rice farms in Northeast Arkansas, this makes me kinda chuckle.

Black Tea does the same job on mosquito larvae.

You can also mix it inside of your potting mix to help fight fungus gnats since mosquito bits only kill true fly order

What are the components of that thing?

I used a dunk in a container full of larva a few years ago. They did not die, even after 1-2 days. It was a new dunk.

And find black containers plus put a screen on the container to protect the pets.

You should also put a branch or some other “ladder” that goes past the top in because sometimes birds or other small critters can get in and will drown.

If you want frogs, don't use the dunks or bits. They also kill the tadpoles.
Major bummer

I suffer from skeeter syndrome so looking for solutions BEFORE they bite and lay eggs
