"Philosophy manifested into music" is probably the best compliment TOOL has ever received. Already glad I subscribed.

One of the best verses I've ever heard:

"I embrace my desire to
I embrace my desire to feel the rhythm, to feel connected
Enough to step aside and weep like a widow
To feel inspired, to fathom the power,
To witness the beauty, to bathe in the fountain,
To swing on the spiral, to swing on the spiral,

To swing on the spiral of our divinity and still be a human."

Absolutely sublime, spiritually-inspired lyricism.

T00L is one of my favorite bands to turn people on to. They definitely make you think & every time this album is played I always come out with something new. Between this & the recent DEFTONES reaction, you guys have given us metal heads much pleasure & satisfaction. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

As a tool fan, the moment when you actually realize the full depth of this song will be one of the most profound moments in your music life.

This is the most 'Free Thinker' song you could have ever done. A song about literally opening your mind. I'm so glad you appreciated it and saw the nuance. Subscribed forever! <3

Half the Internet has tried to psychoanalyst tool's lyrics. Truth is no-one and everyone is right/wrong. Tool just is. Interestingly tho there is a theory that this album had a hidden meaning (see the holy gift theory). What I loved was watching both of you moving in the groove with no effort. Welcome to the party guys!

The meaning of this song is thinking deeper and look beyond normal life. This song is beyond just music, it's many things... Inspiring, bewildering, educational, and plenty of other things. The amount of thought Tool puts into their music is mind blowing, the lyrics of this song follow the fibonacci sequence. The fibonacci sequence is a series of numbers that are the sum of the two numbers before it.

For example: 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13...etc
(1) Black (1) Then (2) White are (3) All I see (5) In my in-fan-cy (8) Red then yel-low came to be (5) Reaching out to me (3) let's me see.

This continues throughout the entire song. If these numbers are graphed... They would make a spiral.

Since the lyrics of this song is in sequence with this series of numbers throughout the entire song. It's a metaphor for using your mind to expand and spiral out and discover the unknown.

Right in two is also a god damned masterpiece.

Tool-vicarious. It has meaning that's easy to tease out and is so relevant in today's world. Be very hard to not appreciate.

You guys do Tool reviews as often as they do Tool albums!

Thanks for doing this! Per the norm, it was awesome.

The famous FIBONACCI series inside this one song. For tool to have made a song about a mathematical equation while telling the listener to expand their minds is completely insane and it just shows how great of a band tool is and why they are so loved and respected.

Pretty cool to watch two adults discover an entire catalog of music and articulate the experience so well. For those of us who discovered all this as kids, it's hard to overcome the numbing nostalgia factor to analyse it on this level.

I love that you guys love this. I'm a huge fan of Tool, and it's fun to watch new people find the magic that I found too when I started listening to them. I do also like the irony of you analyzing a song about not analyzing, but feeling.

Your way of analyzing songs has changed the way I listen to the metal bands I like. I catch myself noticing more details because I now have a tiny George and Ryan in my mind when I hear these songs. Thanks for these videos!

My recommendation is Ocean Land by Orphaned Land. I think you will like it because it's different. It's an Israeli band trying to make music based on what is common from the cultures in the Middle East. It's all about uniting Free Thinkers!

So in essence this song embodies the very idea of this channel, you 2 have broken out of your comfort zone and have embraced other music. Very cool.

OK some fun trivia. The syllables of the first verse of this song follows the Fibonacci Sequence in mathematics: 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 5, 3, 2, 1, 1

[1] black[1] then
[2] white are
[3] all I see
[5] in my infancy
[8] red and yellow then came to be
[5] reaching out to me
[3] lets me see

[2] there is
[1] so
[1] much
etc....

Mathematical band. Bassy and awesome. Love Tool! Glad you like it!

Now do some ALICE IN CHAINS!

Ok - this song!

Firstly, if you look at the pattern of the syllables as they’re sung... “Black”=1, “then”=1, “white are”=2, “all I see”=3, “in my in-fan-cy”=5 “red and yell-ow then came to be”=8, “reach-ing out to me”=5, “lets me see”=3, “As bel-ow, so ab-ove and be-yond,
I i-ma-gine”=13, “drawn be-yond the lines of rea-son”=8, “Push the en-ve-lope”=5, “Watch it bend”=3

These are the numbers of the fibonacci sequence... in order. The time signature of the chorus is 9/8, 8/8, 7/8... 987 is also the 16th number of the fibonacci sequence... also of you take each successive number of the fibonacci sequence and divide it by the previous number, it converges to the golden ratio, approx equal to 1.618... 1min37sec is when Maynard starts “singing”, which is 1.618minutes!

Also, the opening lyrics are a depiction of the first scenes you experience as a new-born... when you first open your eyes, all you see is a bright white light, followed by an image in black and white... then the the longest wavelengths come into “focus” ie red and yellow...

Long story short, the sequence and the golden ratio permeates the whole song!

This band is on another level!

Dudes. New to this channel, but I love this shit. I'm a multi-genre music fan, but lean heavy on the side of things. I feel y'all are helping to bridge the gap between people of different music ideologies. Which, in turn, could very well have a positive impact on humanity itself. Thanks y'all. This is dope. Request:

Tool - Right in Two
Michael Jackson - Dirty Diana
