The golden ratio and fibonacci sequence. Tool playing 4D chess.

The fact that they did this, made it listenable, and also made it amazing is why they are the best working band today.

What most people do with this song : *fucking analyze it*
BigBoss.mm
The only band that I can play their entire discography beginning to end without skipping a single song.
Girthtacious
Been listening to tool since 93. They are THE best band still putting out music.
Bubbascrub
The mere fact of thinking of writing a song following the Fibonacci series and consequently also the golden ratio, makes you the most brilliant band of all time.
soulrebornofficial
There's an interview out there where Maynard calls the song "sophomoric". He explains that if the golden ratio is present everywhere they shouldn't have "forced" it in the song, it should be there naturally.

It took me years to figure out why the Doom 3 theme sounded so badass, it's just a variation of that opening riff with more distortion.

I love people who have never heard of tool go down the wormhole.
Imagine mathing your song before singing your math.
Salt-Oil
The fact that the band came to that conclusion organically through their normal songwriting process is just telling what a force of nature the Parmigiano sequence is.
horriblepizza
The crazy part isn't that they did this, but rather that they made this GOOD

Tool and A perfect circle are brilliant.
I heard on the radio that Tool aren’t in the hall of fame and have never been nominated. Crazy!
rickdawkins
I asked an old man for a song to listen to in line.
He gave me this song.
I'm still shook.

Oh well, my mind is now in a state of tool. Time for that bong to bring it all together
smellyjoe
Every member of tool is a master in their craft.
WasOnceLost
Uhm yeah, from the very first moment I heard this song, it has been a brain cooker. Unbelievably they do an amazing job playing this live. Tool is one of the few bands that sound the same live as they do on any medium.
somafire
I don’t think people understand just how amazing this band really is.
