Sorry for the VERY delayed response! As with any strengthening exercise, your hip muscles with first get more toned, and then larger if you start adding ankle weights or other forms of resistance to increase the difficulty of the exercise.

Leandra-Yes, you can do this exercise with ankle weights on to make it more difficult. Just make sure you are able to maintain good form and lift your leg through the full range of motion. Otherwise the weight may be too heavy.

Yes just use progressive overload and bodybuilding parameters and you muscle will probably see noticeable change on a few months

How strong should u be? I aim for 3 sets 20 atm, by third I struggle by 12th rep. I want to run a 25 minute 5k. Squat 1.5 times bodyweight.
