Still working my First welding job. My uncle is a journeyman welder, and he got me into the UA as an apprentice pipefitter, I just started my second year. If you keep your hood down you’ll get more and more responsibilities and learn whatever they’ll teach you.

I got a job right out of highschool at the best machine shop in town, started out sweeping floor and ckeaning out the lathes and mills, went on part/material runs, unloaded trucks with the forklift, they bumped me up to pump repair and welding. I left to join the sheet metal union where they worked everyone 7/12s months at a time, did that for about 7 years and got burnt out. Ran into the shop foreman of the machine shop a couple weeks ago and I just started working there again, 4/10s baby!!! Couldn’t be happier 😎😎😎

I went to a college open house and check out their indstrial trades dept. I tried out the welding class and decided I liked it, and ended up ditching my plans to be a carpenter, and taking the college course there. While in school my aunts friend couldn't find reliable employees for his marine construction business and hired me right up.
