Or look up your local iron worker, sheet metal, or pipe fitter apprenticeship training center.

I've asked multiple instructers and got the same solid answer...

"Buy a welder."

I started from the bottom at a fab shop, the senior welders noticed my interest in learning to weld along with my go getter attitude and solid work ethic and gave me a shot, was making 14/hr then now at 28/hr 3 years later. Thinking of joining the Pipefitters union for that big money! Wouldnt change a thing, the way I did it I learned to fabricate before I ever touched a welder! I spent my learning time with the old timers, they wont steer you wrong if you show you really got it! Best thing I didnt pay a dime to learn. 👨‍🏭

My way of starting welding is: Buy an $80 welder, buy basic PPE($30 Hood, $25 gloves, maybe an apron if you have extra money, and a respirator), then just go for it. Start grabbing random sheets of metal and slap them together

WWA Sounds like a great option/opportunity for newbies. We live in a world where everyone wants to see your certificate/diploma/license.

Or apply for general labor and get good with welders who will teach you then take the weld test and better yourself while actually working and welding for income

My 12 year old son just finished a weeklong introduction to welding. He made a fire pit at the Nova Scotia community college what a great way to get young people interested in the trades

Or find an old man like did and ask him to teach you. All it cost me was a 5th of wiskey and a jar of peanut butter once a week.

It pays to be nice to old vets. They will teach you all kinds of stuff.

Schools USED to have votech or shop class. When I was in school you could do half days at school and half at the votech.
When you were JR/SR yr.
