What Will Happen To Earth When The Milky Way And Andromeda Galaxy Merge?

Within 4.5 billion years, the Milky Way and the Andromeda Galaxy will merge into a single galaxy; during the process, billions of stars will migrate from one galaxy to another, and some may shoot out into intergalactic space, becoming wandering stars, but… What will happen to our solar system? Will it survive the cosmic dance between Milky Way and Andromeda? Could a star collide with the Sun?
Join us to find out!
In a past video, we explained what the would look like Milky Way when it merges with the Andromeda galaxy and all the effects that this will have on both galaxies; if you missed it, we recommend you to see it:
"Place here the link to the last video."
This video will address what will happen to our solar system and the planets that compose it when the collision between the two galaxies occurs.
Galactic habitable zone
If you are a faithful follower of "Insane Curiosity," surely more than once you have heard about the famous "habitable zone," a region around a star where the temperatures are ideal for a planet to have water in a liquid state, that is an area that is neither very hot nor very cold.
But... Did you know that galaxies also have a habitable zone?
Yeah! This is the Galactic Habitable Zone (ZHG), defined as that region of a galaxy in which the necessary conditions exist for life to arise and to prosper for billions of years.
Currently, it is considered that the defining parameters of a ZHG are two:
1. Abundance of heavy elements and
2. cataclysmic astrophysical events.

This is mostly a moot point as is already mentioned in the video. The earth will no longer be habitable because the sun will be in its final stages of life. Either we developed a way to live in space and can travel to a safe location or humanity has already died out.

If we stopped spending so much time and resources on weapons of war, we could all come together in a worldwide collaboration, to pool additional resources to continually research more advanced technology to eventually have the capacity to move to another habitable galaxy.

It's never too early, and by then we will most probably have the required technology to travel across the universe and be thankful for the choices made by their ancestors to keep humanity going elsewhere.

the Sun will become a red giant at that time...

Its unfortunate they already gave the merged galaxies a name (and a bad one at that) - in 3.5 billion years they could have held a contest open to all kids of both galaxies to come up with a name for the new merged galaxy... but alas, that can never happen now.
Although, if kids stay the same over the years to come, we probably would have wound up with "Galaxy McGalaxyface" as the new name...

By that time the sun will have become a red giant and Earth will be gone.
Or the sun will have become a white dwarf and if Earth wasn't vaporized by the red giant, it will be a frozen lifeless rock.

Reality sucks.

Life will end without the sun.

Wasn't Lactomeda the name? I read it somewhere.

The Earth will be gone...the Sun will consume it by then, at present the Milky Way Galaxy is colliding and devouring two smaller galaxies.

The vastness of space makes me lose all faith in humanity. I doubt life will survive much longer light is only possible for like of all time. I truly believe there is much more that we are missing than we realize. There has probably been life many many times but the hostility of space likely wipes them out every time after a short period. For all we know there could’ve been intelligent life on earth before and it got wiped out leaving like 1 life form left. Over billions of years eventually evolving back into humanity. I kinda believe we are in a loop…. The vastness of space and time just is beyond us and our understanding… Life feels so familiar. I feel like I’ve been here before .

No such thing as a habitable zone; life can exist in other ways — not just the one way we know. We'd find life faster if we get out of this habitable zone nonsense.
