Video shows moments a train nearly hits a Columbus school bus

The incident happened Tuesday afternoon in southeast Columbus.

This is a spin aka gaslighting, for those of you who don't know. Driver needs fired, that is not protocol and there are no second chances after making that error. School buses have crossed those tracks for at least 50 years with no issues.

That bus is supposed to stop before the arm comes down have the radio down, open the doors and listen. Same protocol each time. There is no reason why that bus should have been that close if they had been paying attention. Same as a semi carrying hazmat, stop within 50 ft no less than 15 of tracks.

This is incredibly common in my city. I had a bus driver that would stop passed the signal to look for trains. The trains pass 70MPH at max speed.

If the crossing has bad visibility maybe the FRA (federal Railroad administration) should get out there and do some inspections. Cause blind spots at crossings can cause this

Gee, talk about a slanted article! "The train barreling down the tracks". If I were the news director at that station, there would definitely be an opening because this reporter would be FIRED!

It is amazing how many accidents on these Youtube videos are caused because a crossing gate comes down and touches a vehicle. Those gates are hinged at the connection point and if the hinge is frozen the gates will break away if forced. Drivers should reverse and sacrifice the gate instead of freezing up and sitting there hoping for the best.

The guy that filmed the bus driver is saying the bus driver did everything right, but at the time he’s screaming on the video that she should not stop on the tracks. Am I missing something? Or did he just assume right away something that was wrong, which means he made it ass out of himself. It’s just funny for the same person to have such wildly different reactions based on the same thing.
