I love that the commentator says: “eyes on the track” and the second he says that Butcher turns. Because for Butcher, Homelander is his track and goal.

A minor detail: A-train calmly waited for the right moment, when Shockwave arrived and jumped around a bit, only then he went for the V. He did this so nobody would suspect A-train to suddenly act weird.

I just realized, the initial frame showing their stats shows A-Train beating Shockwave in every area except reaction time. Shockwave was .002 faster. Also A-Train is 32 vs Shockwave at 24? Interesting.

2:10 If you look at the scoreboard you see Shockwave's speed was 342 m/s, which is ironic because shockwaves are supposed to travel faster than the speed of sound which is 343 m/s

After watching how this show has given more context to this scene, I can say this is one of the best scenes in Season 1. The stare down is genius, and says so much without writing a single line of dialogue
