Palpatine: "Execute order 66"

Clones: "Who the fuck are you?"

I feel like without the inhibitor chips as a factor, the moment the clones get the "execute order 66 call", their first thoughts would be along the lines of "Who is this shriveled bastard and how'd he get on our comlink channel?"

Palpatine: "Execute Order 66"

Clone Commander: "Who the fu- wha- huh- I should kick your fuckin' ass, who is this"

Ironic that Palpatine was killed in the same way that he hoped that the jedi would die.

Palpatine: Commander Cody, the time has come. Execute Order 66.
Commander Cody: Uhhh, what's Order 66 again?...

It’s so easy to forget how pissed off the clones would be if they ever found out that Palps was the reason for the entire war. I love the role they played in this story.

What if the clones’ inhibitor chip was poorly designed and actually caused a release of dopamine during order 66 instead of making them want to kill the Jedi.

Seeing the Clones take revenge on their own hands and killing Palpatine in a slow and painful death made this "What if" story the BEST one that I have seen so far. ❤

What if Fives actually told Anakin about the inhibitor chips and the Jedi had time to not only reprogram them in every clone, but make plans for what to do if the order were given.

Sometimes happy endings are not only rewarding they just feel satisfying and that was an excellent storyline for SWs characters.

I love this scenario, but I would change only two things:
- The Galactic Marines were fiercely loyal to the Republic, rather than the Jedi, so Baccara and his troops would gun down Ki Adi-Mundi without any questions asked.

- Fox and the Coursucant guard were basically Palpatine's lapdogs, but I am about 80% sure that most of them would join the effort to overthrow Palpatine, and most likely just stun blast Fox and clones that wanted to stay loyal to the Chancellor.

I was originally going to make a comment about how Palpatine probably had a contingency for if the inhibitor chips failed.
However, I never considered just how ABSOLUTELY PISSED The Clones would be if they found out Palpatine was behind the entire war.
(This could also be considered in a story in which Palpatine is revealed as the mastermind to the entire war AFTER his rise to power. I'd imagine the clones would be even more pissed knowing he forced them to betray and murder their Jedi allies for false pretense.)
I also find it ironic in your story that The Clones chose not to betray The Jedi for reason of the very thing The Jedi most feared: Attachment. The Clones had become attached to The Jedi, seeing them almost as much brothers as each other. Attachment was not The Jedis' undoing, but their salvation.

What if Dooku and Sifo Dias left the order and made the CIS but didn’t turn to the dark side

The only issue I see with this is Fox and the Coruscant Guard not siding with Palpatine, as they were practically his own personal army from the start and were only loyal to him

One thing I would say is that, of all the Clones, I figure that Bacara, Neyo, and Fox would likely have followed the Order, without the chips. Neyo was unusually cold and brutal, Bacara was extremely strict and militant, and Fox was... Fox.

<SPOILER WARNING>

10 years after Anakin leaves the order, Yoda arrives on Naboo. "To invite you back into the Jedi Order, I have come."
A: "But Jedi are forbidden attachments... I'm married to Padme."
Y: "Learned, we have. Painful, it was."
A: "What changed your mind?"
Y: "Saved the Jedi Order, attachment has. If the Clones had not grown attached to the Jedi, doomed we would have been."

Love the Clones not only got a happy ending, but avenged their fellow brethren who died on Palpys whims. I always thought the Clones had the most tragic, undeserved ending, so I’m glad to see them finally get what they deserved (in a good way lol)

If Yoda was deactivating O66 just prior to activation, I have one very important question:
*_What about the droid attack on the Wookies?_*

This premise reminds me of an idea I had recently. "What if (somehow) both Orders 66 *&* 65 had gone out simultaneously and been received nearly evenly by two halves of the clones? Possibly on the same battle fields in some cases."
The short answer is of course, "Chaos!" As always however, the devil is in the details.

Honestly, I think it fitting that Palpatine was killed in an absolute rain of blaster fire, something that some would consider "uncivilized" and beneath the Force-users to consider even possible to die from.
