Elko is the first defensive minded Head Coach since RC Slocum so it will be interesting to see what he can do, you could tell me A&M won 10 games or won 6 and I would not be surprised think the ND game sets the tone for the Aggies.

Honestly, 8-4 would be an okay season for a first year head coach.

But if the guy that coached an award winning Duke offensive line can get ours to just be competent, I think we take a huge step forward.

A&M is a legitimate sleeping giant for exactly the reasons Josh mentioned here. With the hiring of Elko, they now have everything a program needs to be successful:

- Very good, possibly great coaching in Mike Elko (Fisher is a top-tier recruiter but a so-so gameday coach)
- Elite talent on the lines, at QB, and skill positions
- Incredible facilities for attracting talented players and coaches
- A fanatical fanbase
- An administration _that actually is hungry to win_ and willing to invest in the program to do it

Now, A&M is not the only program with these advantages but there aren't many others. And, yes, they have underperformed relative to their talent over the last few years. But as Josh mentioned, sometimes all it takes is for one piece to fall into place for everything to change. I think Elko is that piece.

Sorry I disagree entirely. First Clemson did more to shoot themselves in the foot in the game against Duke. Second Texas A&M has to have a "show me" moment before I will consider them even to win 8 games. The ND defense is going to be very good, even pushing elite level. If Texas A&M wants to make a "show me" moment, will August 31st is your chance. They lose to the Irish, then a 6-6 season is likely.
