Man that facial reconstruction looks like... me.

4th great grandfather arrived in Virginia, settled down to North Carolina appalachian mountains, where we stayed.

Scots heavily settled this area, then remained insulated.

Thanks to modern DNA research I discovered that my male line began in Pict land/Aberdeenshire. Also discovered that Robert the Bruce is my 20th great grandfather. Yes, my given first name is Robert. My first Scottish ancestor to the Americas was also named Robert. He was sold as a Bond Slave to the English Virginia Colony after his participation in the Battle of Dunbar in 1650. Thanks for your wonderful and educational presentation.

Did you know they are building a horse track on Bannochburn site? Some Americans have bought Sterling council and they are building gambling sites and hotel on our history. The petition was hidden from us.

Scotland was an independent country prior to Bruce, Edward longshanks only took a primary roll at the request of the protector’s of Scotland after the death of Margaret Maid of Norway Queen -designate 1286 -1290 . So for a period of 16 years we had an English overlord. We were an independent nation and we will be again.

I am certainly no authority but I had done quite a bit of research on my 67% Scottish DNA. My father's lineage is from Argyllshire and my mother's lineage from Caithness.
I believe my father's clan (MacQueen) originates from northern Ireland but they, along with the MacDonalds, (who were considered our kin) used to trade between Ireland and Argyll. Speaking gaelic, there was little language barrier. I cannot recall the date.
Yes, my Scottish ancestors migrated to Australia in the 1800s.

The Highland clearances cast a dark cloud. Though Ancestry DNA says I've got 12, 000 cousins in Ontario Canada. Maybe their success there is the silver lining.

Evo Inception, overall great video. A quick correction on pronunciation though; Maes Howe on Orkney is pronounced "Mays how"

There are multiple talks on dna sequencing and there are 3 main migrations into the British isles. The hunter gatherers from northern India, the anatolians and the yamnaya steppe peoples. These 3 main controlled around 90+% of the male dna as they each replaced the male population. The sequencing was done through the female line as that is obviously unbroken. There are other minor migrations but none that impact like the 3 main lines of Scottish dna. But I will say that most of our history is under water. Humans tend to live by water and we know that with the ending of ice ages the seas rise. How many times have humans moved with the flow of the ice ages? The dna sequencing found so far that there are over 20 different types of human in our dna. In Southern Africa, the peoples there encountered a human type that isn’t in the dna of the rest of the world. How cool is that? And the scientists don’t know what these 20+ humans are because they haven’t found any physical evidence of them in the earth yet. Humans were also a lot more advanced than what scientists previously thought too, with the discovery of jewellery that had been drilled, all the way back to the denisovians.

The Picts were basically the same people as the Caledonians. The term was first used by the Romans in 297AD. IMO this was probably due to the Caledonains being the only northern tribes encountered by the Romans, who still painted or tattooed themselves. According to historians such as Tim Clarkson and archeologist Ewan Campbell (see his online pdf doc 'Were the Scots Irish') there was no invasion or mass migration of Gaels from Ireland. The Epidii tribe who lived in Argyleshire spoke the Gaelic because they were geographically isolated from the other Caledonian/Pictish tribes and found it much easier to interact with the Irish. There is no evidence of any invasion. Any genetic similary between the Epidii and the Irish was due to the Bell Beaker settlements of the Bronze Age and the later Norse settlements.

So what about the high populations of Rh Negative blood in the Scottish populations?. Nobody seems to mention the old "ginger gene". In a nutshell...we're a bit of a hybrid mix in more ways than one I guess...

Given that Robert the Bruce wrote to the Pope out at about the time of panic Byrne asking why was it that the pope was supporting a king who had no claim to the Scottish realm because they were a separate people, .
He stated that the people of the lambs originated from sericia and that they moved up through Europe into Cornwall Island and Scotland haven’t been interested in this subject for some years now and having looked at haploid charts one thing and another in a geographic manner it occurs to me that the origins of selfish people are from an area currently known as Anatolia in Turkey.
I recognise that what you were saying is that the society was more cosmopolitan and that were in influences from Scandinavia as the Baltic countries we know only too well invaded Britain I need the Dukes Saxons the pics et cetera.
Robert the Brew seems to be something of a person who would’ve known the folklore of his peopleand I’m wondering how that fits into the story you’re telling her
