About the Intel codec encoding I heard something interesting. It was a message in another video, which one I can't remember, but the user had a AMD based computer with a Nvidia or AMD graphics card. Now he was going to do a lot of transcoding and thought his machine was too slow. He bought a Intel ARC 380 based card and added to the computer. Drivers were installed but the monitor was still connected to his performance graphics card. This allowed him to use the Intel card for media encoding and accelerated the performance by a lot. The software was set to use Intel quicksync just as if he had a intel processor with graphics controller.

Now this might be overkill for most, but if you've got a working high performance machine using AMD CPU or a Intel CPU without graphics it might be an interesting option.

The Intel ARC A380 is cheap and will be fine if you don't need it as a primary graphics card. The A750 and A770 are overkill for this use, at least for what I know. There are also a series of professional graphics cards in series called the A50, A50 and A60. I don't know about their pricing or if they are as good at encoding video as the A380.

I'm using an AMD Ryzen 5900. Very pleased with it, although I'm using DaVinci Resolve Studio. Pay once and avoid Adobe's monthly ransom.

31:04 About hybrid architecture difference. I've "upgraded" from intel 5820k desktop to amd 5900hs and while the render times have been shorter, the system stuttering while rendering is much worse with amd. Might be the laptop issue, but it's really drastic. Look to definitely switch back to intel on my next upgrade.

Would be also fun to see comparison with Mac. Found them to be pretty great at some AE tasks.
