How Long Should Your Workouts Be to Be Effective?

The length of your workout is important. Too long and you dilute the training stimulus for the sake of volume. Too short and you might pull the plug before you really get going. But what's most important isn't to base your workout on time but rather objective and then letting the time take care of itself.

When I have time, I just workout as long as it feels good.. sometimes i do animal movement pattern after my session and sometimes i finish my workout before the last breath :) .

Matt those bridges have helped my lower back pain immediately! Like all that foam rolling and exercises I did that I thought were because of my ‘weak’ lower back was actually the lack of mobility that only bridges could fix!

i know i'm close to the end when it starts to get dizzy in my head + higher pressure + needed more time to recover. Then i usually do 1-2 sets of burnout and that's it.

I subscribe to Fitness Addict because it's funny. I subscribe to this channel because it's full of great info and low on ego. Thanks again!

But what about those C:T ratios, accumulated fatigue, going from an anabolic to a catabolic state, and all those things that allegedly make workouts shorter than 1 hour more effective (provided they are performed with adequate intensity)?

Good video. In coming from bodybuilding did you lose arm size? Should one still do curls and extensions?

Also, do you do skills like muscle ups, planche, etc. in addition to Convict Conditioning? How would you work them in?

I've been doing calisthenics for around 4 months now and my workouts are around 45 minutes or so. I might only hit hand stands holds against a wall, push ups, front lever progressions, and pistol squats, but by the end I'm pretty toast. My workouts for the last few years have had little structure and I do it all by feel. I put all my effort into perfect form, so do you find it reasonable that I'm still getting a good workout even if I don't strictly count things like rest times or know what exercises I'll be doing beforehand? I've been making progress but that doesn't mean I'm doing it right.

What about doing one set every 8 minutes and working out for 2 hours? Anything wrong with long rests between sets?

Some want you to tell them "the Goldilocks zone." However, that zone varies from day to day.
