Christianity's issue with the gnostic view of sophia and gnosis is not that it challenges the authority of the Church. The Bible stresses wisdom and knowledge. There are 7 gifts of the spirit. 3 of them are wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. So the quest of knowledge is not the issue. The issue is when you forget that it was Jesus who saves you. His death on the cross. You instead believe that it was your own knowledge that saved you. That's self righteousness.

You also ignored that the gospel of Mary was considered heretical not only because it presented different views but also cause it wasn't a first century book.

Readings are considered heretical, dangerous, or forbidden for the simple reason that someone somewhere feels their power, authority, and money are threatened by them.

One key piece of information is how the canon was put together. Basically, the Christian community of intellectuals and leaders put up criteria for fixing the canon, which means basically "texts that can be assumed authoritative by any Christian quoting to any Christian", and these criteria are: 1) texts that have always been believed 2) texts that have always been held public 3) texts that have always been believed everywhere. From these you can see that all mystery schools got excluded from the canon, because they had secret (non public) teachings (and because you can't have people just pulling new texts from under the couch and saying "here the true sayings of Jesus no one ever heard about, they are true!"). Gnosticism is a bad term, because it refers to a big set of movements and groups wide apart in time and space, but the main problem of Gnosticism was it being localized, it was never "mainstream globally", and it had a cosmology massively different from the indeed mainstream views. There you have it, not as romantic as it first appears, no big conspiracy, just librarians cataloguing libraries xD

I love how confident Christians sound when calling other gospels “non-canonical” yet it took 300+ years to standardise the texts & make a canon. And even then the 4th century canon doesn’t align with today’s since Codex Sinaiticus has books not a single Christian believes in and on top of that even today’s Christian’s can’t agree on the canon.
