Is Xbox Pulling Back on Console Advertising and Rewards?

A report from the Verge is saying that Xbox will reduce their advertising for the Xbox Series X|S console in the near future. In addition, Reddit users are reporting that Microsoft Rewards tied to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate will also be seeing some changes in the near future. The Xbox news today is all about how Microsoft is making some drastic changes to Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

I'm 52 years old and have many years experience in retail business. Raising the price on goods will never increase business...it will stagnant. Having Sales, Bundle deals, and superior customer service are the foundation to gain happy and satisfied customers.

In my opinion, it's been pretty clear for a while that MS is winding down on the console business from multiple angles. This reduction in marketing budgets is particularly interesting since now you can clearly see the money is being drained from that side of the business. Of course they still want to keep people around for as long as possible, still, but they don't want to invest more in the console itself.

I can see them moving more towards PC with the handheld being a mini PC you can plug a monitor/TV & keyboard into like the Rog Ally. hope the next Xbox is a full windows 11/12 PC instead of a closed system

Xbox is going to stop marketing the Series S/X in Europe because the next console is coming in 2026? Sega followed a similar strategy in 1997 with the Saturn. When the dreamcast released in 1999 most gamers had already switched to PlayStation...

Xbox marketing is already non existent compared to Playstation. They're not even doing better than the Xbox One generation which is hard to believe.

Xbox already has very little advertising in Europe and the UK, football (soccer) is sponsored by PlayStation. Massive billboards go up for big PlayStation games GoW and Spiderman, buses are covered in PlayStation adverts too. Maybe if Xbox actually advertised on popular things F1, football etc they’d get some more sales? PlayStation dominates in Europe because it can be seen everywhere you look.

I’m in uk Europe and I’ve barely seen any marketing since 360 days why would they chase Japan a market they barely sell consoles but they will pull from Europe least 30% there sales
