Why are there So Many Links? (Zelda Theory)

Link, the Hylian hero of the Legend of Zelda franchise, makes many different appearances across the series-- usually as different people! But every Link possesses the same Spirit of the Hero, linking (no pun intended) them all together. One question remains, though: who or what created the cycle that reincarnates a Hero whenever Hyrule needs him?

I love your way of thinking, it's one of the reason's you're my favorite Zelda theorist! However, I believe that the Link we see from SS IS the original hero. When he went back in time, it was like he was writing his own story. But I also love the idea of an original hero that predates SS Link. It adds a special flare of mystery. Keep up the great videos!

I accept this theory as my head canon, though I do want to point out that while he wasn't responsible Demise does has a possible reason. Link seems to be reborn whenever Ganon is about to or has appear and constantly loses everyone he loves besides Zelda. So in that sense Link can never know a fully peaceful time, thus Demise gets the ultimate revenge on the man who stopped him at every turn and his goddess. Its also why that BotW fan video Deathly Loneliness works so well IMO.

I'm happy to finally see someone talk more about the SS Prequel Manga. Yes, it may not be canon but Akira managed to capture the essence of the Zelda story beautifully and they both did an amazing job trying to imagine what would have taken place before SS

As for the Master Sword in the Manga, I'd like to imagine that during the events from the Manga to SS it simply lost it's power and became the Goddess Sword. It was just hidden away and it had no sages to keep its power or any other being to look after it.

But that's just my take on what could have happened. I'm kind of sad that the Manga isn't canon, since it did have a pretty good explanation for the reincarnation cycle

I'm also happy that someone finally realized why the games are named after Zelda, because she is the reincarnation of Hylia and that makes the title even more impactful(credit goes to the videos "If Link could talk in SS" for that realization)

My take on the Reincartnation thing is that Hylia only Reincarnated with Link ONCE so as to like she always wanted to: Live with him. But then coincidentally the Event's of Skyward Sword happen and then at the End Demise bound them to his hatred therfore creating the Cycle.
And that little "Slip up" from Demise that was mentioned in the video might have been intentional as to just because he hated them so much make them always reincarnate in an era of Chaos so that the Hero and Goddess could never truly have a peaceful live.

I think another possibility is that the goddess, knowing Demise was gonna break free, decides to create her reincarnation cycle and Link, being the knight of the goddess, and potentially being in love with her, offers to join in the reincarnation cycle.

Hero of Time Link is awesome, he defended Hyrule since age 8, created peace in Hyrule by age 9 then after being asleep for 7 years and waking up in a 16 year old's body with a 9 year old's mind, pulled the Mater Sword, defeated Ganandorf, remade peace and rebuilt and restructured Hyrule to it's original state and possibly better despite it being ruled by Ganandorf for 7 years, then was sent back into his 8 year old self, stopped Ganadorf from ever returning on that incarnation, made Hyrule and his relationships of everyone he knew before being sent back even better than before Ganandorf's original take over or after his return, started a family, got a wife had children and died a hero in battle at least his mid 30's and at most his early 40's and despite not being able to teach his lessons purely because he had already made things great, taught his descendant all his skills allowing him to beat a new Ganandorf incarnation

Demise was the original hero before he got greedy. Demise was the first Link. The game references this a few times. It still blows my mind that one of the hero's could have strayed off the path like that but then again... Twilight Princess Link does have that infamous scene where he does go dark side for a matter of seconds so not too hard to believe.

Here is my thought about Link the Hylian Hero... Breath of the wild specifically, we can say that there is a scene in breath of the wild that Zelda acknowledges all the previous Link versions, During a memory clip. This would mean that this version of Link and Zelda, In the new game "Tears of the Kingdom" Is going to specifically focus on "Link" Instead of Zelda or Ganon of that sort, Because if you've not noticed... very rarely or at least in my play through of the games. Only 2 versions of link nearly activated the Triforce of Courage.

Twilight Princess + Wind Waker... Are two versions of Link that properly activated the power or least Briefly activate the power of Courage, But never used his power. Clearly...

- Zelda. She possesses the Triforce of Wisdom. + Able to bring the Light and emulate the power through herself through the Goddess Hylia.

- Link - He possesses the Triforce of Courage. + Link is able to connect his Ancestors and is Ironically "Linked" To all the Hero's of Hyrule as he is Immortal. He cannot die. (Besides dying in game, of course) The Triforce of Courage (Farore). Bestowed Link as that is her Son. The major reason there are so many Links, Is because there are two theories.

~A. Link is Immortal. (in the cutscene) ~SACRED GROUND RUINS Memory.~ Zelda Refers to Link with all the Known titles he goes by. During the Sacred Initiation that the Goron Daruk suggested.
The biggest reason I Theorize that link is immortal is he suddenly lost all those memories that he's gone through, Such as his Sister, Family as well Past (Including) Young Toon Link. (Wind Waker) When he was with Grandma.

~B. All of Link's Memories were all in his head, meaning all the events that he's experienced were all a literal "Dream" Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess. All of it was just a Dream, and Zelda's Wisdom already knew all the versions of Link and Zelda, being somewhat "Linked" To well, "link" lol, All of these events that he tries to Remember went "Poof" and has to collect all the Memories, Tears and the Anguish to Retell a Story that Impa, Zelda, The Rito, The Zora all of them has to tell him all the immeasurable amount of deeds he has done for them. But cannot remember...

~Bonus. Breath of the Wild, Link is the Original "Link" This Link Warned about Ganon's Betrayal and King Hyrule Banished Ganon to death in the lower depths of Hyrule Dungeon forever to be sealed by Ancient Magic. Though, Again Breath of the Wild link is going to unravel the Mystery about his past with Zelda, Since she awakened her power of Wisdom, and now it's Link's Turn to properly Awaken his Triforce and finally obtained the ability to show the True power of Courage. The Deity form of Link. Farore form. My Theory for Tears of the Kingdom, that owl like figure is likely to be an Adult version of Farore. Guiding to link and assisting him to return his memories to the fullest (Also) in the Quest to fully Repair the Master sword or Obtain the Deity sword...

I'm gonna address a few things about the manga:

1. It appears in the back of the Hyrule Hystoria. More than enough reason to consider it Canon. Not to mention ot could be treated as a retelling passed down by the Hylian people, which would explain the errors like the Master Sword already existing.

2. The Master Sword existing isn't that big of an error when we compare two versions of the Master Sword considered "not fully powered" The Godess Sword and The WW Master Sword. Both look quite similar before getting powered up into the Master Sword we know, there is nothing saying that the "Master Sword" in the manga didn't require some sort of powering up before hand, not to mention it beingconsidered the Goddess Sword might be because it lost its power after Hylia took on a mortal form thus leaving the blade to revert to Goddess Sword form. We have several canonical instances that require the Master Sword has lost its power and needs to get recharge and in some cases this changes how it looks.

Idk food for thought I suppose.

Me: how else are you gonna have a link to the past
