Why are there so many narcissists?

Why does it seem like there are so many narcissists today? I personally think there is an overuse of the word narcissist in today's society, but I also think it helps a lot of people understand what they have been through in this space. Narcissists have always been around since Biblical times and social media has shined a bright light on everything that narcissists are doing.

Welcome my channel! If this is your first time seeing my face or hearing my voice, my name is Lee and I am a self aware narcissist. I have narcissistic personality disorder ( NPD ) and I've been in therapy for my personality disorder since 2017 and it has definitely changed my life because without it, I would have lost everything.

The point of these videos is to help bring awareness from the other side of the narcissistic *buse spectrum. All my videos give perspective on why many narcissists do what they do and the possible different reasons behind them. The victims and survivors get validation and the Narcissists (those that are willing) get to see that you can get help and that you are not alone.

There have always been so many narcissists since the creation or evolution of man, we only weren't aware that such toxic people were called narcissists. You're correct my. Husband could manipulate people into doing whatever he wanted them to do. He said u better get on board and have people at your beck and call. I said I'm good I can take care of my own business

I watched the picture of Dorian Gray around 1989 and I still never really understood what narcissist meant until I experienced it Oct 2021 to Jan 2024

Honestly Lee I never knew what a narcissist was until I started watching your videos. It helped me understand what I was dealing with at home with my mom, dad, & son’s father. We never had the chance to talk to other people to know what we were experiencing. Social media is a gift and a curse and I say a gift because knowing what I know now has allowed myself and most people to heal because we didn’t know what we were experiencing was a form of abuse. I knew it didn’t feel good but people would always say that’s your mom or that’s your dad and they would say they loved me but it didn’t feel like love. I just think that we are able to identify these people and are more equipped to handle ourselves now. We have choices now when before we didn’t. You are absolutely right about folks getting rewarded because I see it everyday at my job. They really do reward bad behavior and look at Nicki Minaj. A straight bully and her fans likely have been bullied but the follow her even though her behavior is erratic, absurd, & unhinged. I’m sure it’s more people but she’s the only one I can think of off the top of my head. I thank GOD for YouTube and TikTok because I was able to heal and protect myself from narcissistic people. So thank you Lee because you were the first person I found on YouTube talking about narcissism in a way that I could relate to.

Back in the day we only thought that narcissist was about being conceated. But now we know that it is realms to narcissistic and toxic behavior we are dragging these people out.!!

Narcissistic people have been around for a long time, like you said!! I have a narcissistic grandparent in their 80s. I have a narcissistic father in his 70s. I’m sure there are generations before them with narcissistic traits, too. Yes I believe that not everyone has NPD, but a large chunk of people have toxic traits at minimum.
