👉 Learn how to solve literal equations. A literal equation is an equation where the unknown values are represented by variables. To solve a literal equation means to make one of the variables the subject of the formula. When the literal equation is a rational equation, we first apply the cross-product property to reduce the literal equation and then we regroup the expression taking all the terms having the desired variable to one side of the equality sign. We then use the simple algebraic process of undoing all the algebraic operations related to the variable we want to solve for.

yep your right, we drill it in your brains, but really solving does not always have to have a numeric value. When solving literal equations(more than one variable) when we solve we will have the other variables apart of our solution

it is x = 2y-2, no need to set equal to zero and solve for y.

Soo... to get x, I need to separate the 2y-2, make it equal to 0, solve for y, input why, then solve x? Or... is x=2y-2 the end? O.o
