Today I broke my PR 100 kgs .. I'm so happy :)

I know it's light weight for many but for someone like me who struggled doing deadlifts in the start, it's a big milestone 🤗

Edit : Thanks alot for all the wonderful comments. Right now I'm at 110 Kgs and also need serious advice, I'm passing out too early than before . Shortness of breathe (this has never happened before, I stay in india and it's summer here) can you guys advice me something that works?

I was taught the deadlift is a push/squeeze. Squeeze every muscle in your body then push your feet through the floor.

Luckily being 50 that was all instinctive to save my shoulders and my back

Yep, lots of cues to remember and become habit so you don’t need to think about them which is where doing it for years comes in. Taking the slack out is very important, taking a huge breath in is crucial, engaging your hamstrings and glutes, driving your feet into the ground and don’t let the bar drift away from your shins. Awesome lift.

After 10 years of training i finally did 10/10 technique deadlift! This cue was the only one missing

This is a fantastic tutorial. This is easily the best explanation of lat tightness I have ever seen. Brilliant. Thank

It's the middle trapezius pulling your scapula and shoulders back. The tension of the lats is functioning more to pull the bar towards your body on the horizontal plane for better leverage, balance, and reducing too much stress on the lower back during the lift.

Its funny how big of a difference it makes locking the lats. I can feel the difference from when I do it properly and when I dont. When I dont I feel strain in my low back...not good. When I do it properly I feel stronger and no strain just power

One of the best explaination of pulling the slack out of the bar I've seen. Doing controlled cheat barbell rows also teach you this. Some call em Rubish rows, some call em cailer rows, but it's a good one to learn this move.

I love this. I once tore my armpit muscle doing it wrong. This is useful.

Wow. I can see it in the muscles and faces. The guy engaging his lats is having a much easier movement.

also try to make every rep identical so that they don't feel wrong or you don't hurt yourself, personally i like to have my shins the length of my thumb away from the bar before every deadlift.

i'm very new to powerlifting and still learning all this so it's great to see an irish creator make a name for themselves moving heavy ass weight

I have just started doing deadlifts I can deadlift 30 kgs easily for reps way too light but I am purposefully lifting light weight to learn proper form

Don't forget rear delts. See how his chest is closed/rolled over. He could practice "chest up" "shoulders back" or what ever you want to call it. Pulling the slack out shouldn't come from the lats but from that "chest up" cue.

I’ve seen someone get a no lift using this technique because he managed to break the bar from the floor while removing the slack and then it touched the floor before he could initiate the lift
