How To Sideload eBooks to a Kobo e-Reader

In this tutorial I show you how to sideload eBooks to a Kobo eReader using a cable. Unfortunately you can't transfer books wirelessly to a Kobo e-Reader as you can with an Amazon Kindle e-Reader. You have to use a USB cable to do that (or install KOReader software on your Kobo). In this video I use my Kobo Clara 2e but it works the same with most Kobo eBook Readers. I show you one method using Calibre book library software and one method just using your computers file manager software. You have to use Calibre to convert ebooks into KEPUB (Kobo ePub) format though.

You can transfer ebooks wirelessly with Calibre IF you install KOReader on your Kobo, I did it very easily on my Kobo Clara 2E

Tack för videon! Väldigt tydligt och hjälpsamt. Du borde satsa på en hobbykarriär som radiopratare eller kanske ljudboksuppläsare. Väldigt behaglig stämma haha

Why do you still need to use Calibre if the first option (connect to computer, drag and drop to Kobo drive) looks easier and faster? genuinely curious as I am in the market for an e-reader and truly confused between getting a Kindle or a Kobo e-reader. Is it purely for the better format? Thanks, and have a good day!

Thank you so much for the video, Stefan, it helped me decide to finally get the kobo instead of the kindle.

Cheers from Hungary 🍻

Can you transfer books to the ereader by plugging in (using the USB-c cable) an external hard-drive (obviously a solid state one)? Does the ereader have file management capability to move files?

Hi everyone and content producer, I am a bit slow with technology so please go easy on me. I have a kobo aura h2o and now no computer as its broken and I can't afford another one, is there any way to transfer library books from my chromebook or phone to Kobo? I don't have dropbox on my kobo as its an old one, I know you can do something as I watched a young guy do it on a video but sadly he was too quick for me (even when I pause the video I don't know what he is clicking anyone explain to me how to do it? Thank you

I've tried transferring over the EPub files I have to my Kobo using the cable and they show up on my Kobo as series of pages and images, no text usually, and each page is saved as a different file so it looks like I have 21 books when I only should have one and each "book" is in fact just an image, one of the photos from the book. Does anyone know what's going on here?

Thank you! As soon as I have the dough, I'm moving back to Kobo.
I could no longer transfer my ebooks to my Paperwhite 11 via USB. I mean, come on!
