Also Orangutans are excellent drivers of golf carts.

Orangutans are often overlooked compared to other great apes. Finding more about these Cheeky ginger apes is always fascinating. 🦧

Two words: hand strength. I watched an orangutan peel a coconut husk much like humans peel an orange. It cracked the coconut open easier than human cracks a walnut's shell. SF zoo did an experiment where they wrapped up some food inside of a 1/4 inch plywood box and then put wrapping paper around the box. To everyone's amazement, the orangutan put its fingers right through the plywood and pulled the box apart. It was like watching the Hulk.

My favorite ape and animal period! The most solitary, silent and intelligent of the great apes.

Arguable some of the most underrated animals. Orangutans generally deserve a lot more attention! Probably my favourite wild ape.

There was a big male called Archie at Taronga Park Zoo in Sydney. He passed some years back . My friend was a primate keeper & told me he was a bad bastard . All new staff were warned not to put themselves with in his reach . A young lady didn’t listen .
Archie reached through the bars & grabbed her by her hand knitted jumper a pulled her face first into the bars of the cage he was in while the main enclosure was being cleaned. They couldn’t get him to release & he actually pulled the jumper until all the wool tore & it came off her. The young lady was bruised, shaken but not badly hurt. She listened better after that!

Orangutans are also the smartest apes, I believe. They have a wise look I find.

I'm stuck on "The average person weighs 176 pounds, which is less than their own body weight."

How the hell does someone weigh less than their weight? xD

I cant help thinking about the librarian in the disk world novels and "don't mention the M word". Where the librarian (an orangutan) demonstrates he is not a monkey because for example monkeys can't turn you upside down and bounce you off the floor by the head while holding your ankles.

A gorilla can pluck the arms off a grown man and an orangutan can toss a man around as easy as a man can toss a toddler yet they both are endangered, proves that we are the real monsters

Well if we include extinct Orangutans then they can reclaim that strongest spot haha (Gigantopithecus, hope I spelled that right)

its easy for people who arent used to weight training and powerlifting to forget just how much the length of your limbs can effect your lifts. And if you put up the same numbers, but have incredibly long limbs, its more impressive of a feet.

I worked out with a dude from the Indianapolis powerlifting team who weighed 350lbs. I watched him bench 650lbs 3 times. His exact words, verbatim..."when you are as fat as me, you arms dont have to travel as far, and its not even double my body weight, I am not really that

Range of motion is HUGE because strength is typically equated as mass moved over distance ( you can get into one rep max, most consistent weight over a certain amount of reps, so many different ways that people classify what is "strong")....you can have 2 guys push the same weight, but if one guy has arms that are a foot longer than the other, he literally had to push that same weight that much further. That is a huge difference.
