Human: "Oh my gosh a new species!"
Orangutan: "Yo, what the fuck is that thing?"

It's crazy that we've just discovered this new orangutan species, just puts to show how little we know about our planet. If there's still that much more to discover on land, imagine what we could find in the oceans.

With the beard and the separation of his hair in the center, he looks like my neighbor albeit much more good looking.

It's called "newly discovered species" becouse just recognize them as different species than the sumatran orangutan. They were there and people (especially tapanuli people) knew they exist there and thou there sub-species
It's number soo low becouse they just living there in one mountain that's relatively not soo wide compared to the whole island

When I look into an orangutan’s eyes I always think “what’re thinking about?” and it always looks like they think the same thing about me. What a wonderful thing to watch while tired and kinda high makes you feel better about the world

Such gorgeous creatures. I hate how so many species are in terrible danger of extinction.

"New" newly discovered is more accurate

A hydropower project (Batang Toru hydropower project) is planned to be constructed in the area of the highest density of these orangutans
And while using hydropower can be a good thing, this time around, it will affect this species big time. Luckily, however, the construction was delayed in 2020 due to funding concerns about the environment and COVID
