Absent Dad

Dustin has been absent in the child's life for almost one year. Dustin decides he wants to be in the child's life but says he cannot afford to pay child support so instead chooses to cover daycare for the child. Sarah is now seeking child support and for Dustin to continue paying daycare. Will the court grant her request?

Yeah... they did this man really dirty. He's paying WAY above his means in child support and is drastically sacrificing parts of his life to do it. He's finding roommates, shopping thrift whenever he goes out, and is eating TV dinners hurting his health. He did this because he felt like he needed to do more to make up for the year that he missed, but he only makes 24, 000/year. Daycare is expensive, I get that... but if shit hits the fan and he can't find a roommate situation in the future, what happens then? If he hits any hurdle in employment or has a medical issue... what happens then? This was an extremely unfair ruling. The mother just wanted to hurt him at this point.

The judge admitted he was already paying more than he should and still raised it. That's pretty fucked up. I usually agree with her rulings but this was bogus as hell

I found my husband a VERY nice suit at a thrift store for $15. Him having a nice suit is an absolutely ridiculous reason to think he makes more money

Sure he was decent enough to pay that entire daycare cost...So WHY on earth make him also responsible for reimbursing health insurance? This rules was ridiculous and frustrating. She literally punished him for his decency.

Sounds like the mother wanted to punish him for wanting to share being a parent... and the judge punishes him for volontarily sharing his salary...?!?!

He got screwed. Seems unfair. Judge said he was paying it "comfortably" but he wasn't. He was living with roommates and eating TV dinners.

This goes to show, if you help out of the goodness of your heart, there will always be a way someone can screw you over. If she wants help, he should have told this broad to put him on childsupport INSTEAD of offering to pay such an outrageous bill. Reason being; No matter what they say, they WILL put you on childsupport and anything you do to help in the past will come back and bite you.

I totally disagree with you Vonda, in the best interest of the child the mother should continue with paying the health insurance. Gracious dad is paying almost half his monthly salary. That was a very unfair ruling.

He is paying way more in excess of what child support would be calculated out to be...
Voluntarily....
Then she threw insurance on top...
He should refile for adjusted child support.. And base it on his income...

Wow, there’s no way he is to pay that amount on a very, very low income! My child’s dad makes $80, 000 and he only pays $600 a month 🤦🏻‍♀️ I am baffled at this ruling and it’s not fair for the father whatsoever. The mother makes more money than him and he is trying to do right by his child. This is more than a punishment rather than a fair ruling for both parties. What a shame! He needs to have a second hearing with a different judge or get an attorney.
