lmao
that troop transport encounter over scipio was hilarious
both sides saw ships on sensors and went 'EEK!' and hit their hyperspace at the same time x3

Shack, fun fact: Those “ball ships” aren’t actually ships. They are just the central command and living area for the “doom donuts” and are used as oversized passenger shuttles.

Diamond rockets are some of the scariest anti capital ship weapon in the game. And it goes through shields… good luck ISDs

Shack, the Twin Blade is an excellent choice for long range artillery. I enjoy combining them wit MC60's and Marauders. The Marauders and MC60's shred shields while the Twin Blade does pure heavy laser damage. The MC80A would be the cherry on top. Yet, as you know artillery irl and in this game are not very tanky and will go down pretty quickly if they get into a brawling position.

"Babylon 5" One of the most underrated Machiavellian Sci Fi shows ever. It made my friend Brett's(who was quite intelligent who later went on into The CIA)Vampire The Masquerade(1st and 2nd Edition)games look tame. It felt like 95% of Babylon 5 was pure intrigue. Great show, well written, the philosophical and social commentary aspects were on point. I don't remember a lot of the characters names but the show was pretty amazing.

Shack, great job on Ord Mantell however, Yaga Minor is a much safer choice. It can get heavy shipyards and I believe heavy factories for pumping out tanks and artillery. I could be wrong about heavy factories. Yet If you own Ord Mantell it would be a great stop gap between The BS in the north and Yaga Minor. Well, now that you did a recon run on Yaga Minor...Well I'll be damned, that's going to be a hell of a fight both in space and the ground. I'd get 2 Artillery pieces surrounded by dug in troops and some tanks and play it defensively using your air strikes and orbital bombardment to knock out some key points. Well I just saw the Yaga Minor has a Shutter Shield. Hmmm I'd say bring in U-Wings for the The Generator, but that place is so fortified that you might not even get U-Wings to the Generator before they are blown out of the sky. I suggest waves of V-25 Gian and Seraph Speeders. Seraph and V-25's are relatively cheap and you can swarm the enemy lines quickly. The V-25 Gians can deploy missiles against AT-AT's and Seraphs can take out infantry. Yes you will lose a lot but the planet is well worth it as it's the last major Imperial planet in the north. Yaga Minor would be a key planet to take.

The Anti-Air Units are surprisingly good at taking out infantry and light armor. I was happy to make the discovery in my game while I was in the middle of a battle the other day. The battle of Ord Mantell on the ground was a real slobber knocker. Congrats on winning. Pathfinder Platoons are usually the first first platoon I put down. The speeders make scouting so much easier, plus you get 4 of them too.

Shack *please*
Stop hopscotching!
They only retreat when they can *see* a superior force, so if you just engine boost and rush over there with your pathfinder corvette, you can drop out in a way that gives you much more time to shoot at them before they jump away.

It feels like the Hutts and Black Sun were linked through the Black Sun leadership events and that's why the Black Sun was hit so hard once the Hutts were destroyed by Shack

Rebel Diaries 29 - I'm getting a bad feeling about things related to the Corporate Sector. In theory they are a neutral party in our war with the Empire and their Black Sun allies, but there have been worrying signs that they are far from neutral. It started with the Empire shipping Kyle Katarn to them shortly after the Empire retook Iridonia from us. Now I've received word from the Bothan Spies that the Empire also shipped one of our pilots to Corporate Sector space during the fight against Admiral Daala. While Daala was defeated, that doesn't change where our pilot was sent to. The only thing I can think of is that the emperor is trying to work some behind the scenes deal that would spread us out on lines too thin to hold. And some of that showed when an Imperial fleet of transports showed up over Scipio... though, thankfully, they were unable to stand up to the hero ship of the Rebellion.

I'm pleased with reports on Alliance construction efforts to build up our forces, particularly after the losses taken in the fight against Daala and her battlegroups. Mon Calamari has built up another capital ship and a wing of Corellian Gunships have been built at Yavin. They'll form a good core for a new fleet to deal with the Black Sun at the Wheel and Mandalore and the Imperials at the Maw. And I've heard reports of added construction at Sluis Van and Sullust. I'd suggest that those forces be built up into a new defense fleet in the Galactic SW to at least deter the Empire from attacking toward Hoth. They may be fighting with the Black Sun out in the Galactic West... and if true it makes for the oddest alliance in galactic history... or raises questions on our intelligence that says that the Black Sun and the Empire are allied... but the Empire is still more than capable of building up forces, and this may raise the importance of striking at major shipyards.

And here, this may actually bring a lot of importance back up to the northern sector. The core is an odd mix, in that while spies indicate that Kuat and Rendili are not as well defended as imagined, Corelia is well defended and if Luke's forces get pulled away, they may not be able to avoid getting smacked by the forces at Corelia... and defeating the forces at Corellia might then weaken their ability to take on even the weaker forces at Rendili. That would be where building up a new fleet separate from Luke and Talon's fleet would help. It would force the Empire to divide its attention. But in the north, we have another opportunity and a bigger need at the moment. And I should inform you on what we've discovered.

The liberation of Iridonia on the ground went quite well. It appears that the Empire only built-up shield generators and a governor's palace there. They had no real military forces there. Once in control of the planet, though, I got a word form Threepio and the spy ship he was manning over Ord Mantell. Threepio was naturally nervous... and I do feel sorry for having to have him risk his life in ways that he is clearly uncomfortable with... but no one ever seems to monitor him or any other droid. Which makes things odd when we consider that the Black Sun seems to incorporate a lot of old CIS technology, including their battle droids. Maybe Threepio being a protocol droid is different... Anyway, he reported that the Black Sun's space forces at Ord Mantell had been badly battered, possibly by Imperials. Their fleet was still there, but it was much weaker. And so, we've moved forward and took over control of the space over the planet.

Captain Shack of the Liberation seemed to take a lot of pleasure at taking out the old CIS ships the Black Sun had. Some of it went almost into dangerous territory... where he gave an order to "charge up the beam cannon and write my name on the hull." It seems rather zealous, but I must commend him and his crew for their penmanship with that cannon. It then allowed for our forces to land on the planet, and here the ground fight was very different. The space fight over Ord Mantell was relatively easy. The ground fight was not. The Black Sun had built up a massive force of air-speeders, that while weren't strong enough to take us out, were numerous enough that our AA ability was limited. This backed up by turbolasers and a bribing leader... and we spent a month besieging position after position. And it shames me that Alliances forces so easily fell for a bribe while I was present.

But the capture of Ord Mantell brought in added information on the condition of Imperial forces at Yaga Minor. And while their ground forces may easily be overcome, as the forces with me at Ord Mantell and with General Kota in the general region can deal with them, their space forces are powerful. They have multiple Star Destroyers and multiple stations, including one that one of our intelligence agents is at least providing research for some of these Imperial super capital ships. This will be another surrounded Imperial world that we MUST strike. The Maw is another, but this danger may be more immediate. In this, I would suggest that ship construction at Mon Calamari send us reinforcing capital ships, along with more escort ships from other areas.

Taking Yaga Minor will be costly... I will not lie. But it will also provide us with an opportunity to gain another major shipbuilding world and increase our ship production... and may hurt Imperial attempts to build their super capital ships, while enabling us to even consider Operation Constriction against the Empire and Black Sun in the north... reversing the economic and industrial advantages the Empire has. - Princess Leia Organa.

Personal Log

Davon Cress, onboard the Venator-Class Battlecarrier "Liberation"

Liberation QRF

The Empire launches a series of counterattacks to slow our advance towarda the core. The Core Battlegroup have been dealing with ISDs cutting off supply lines, raiding imperial transports, and a lot of stuff pertaining to the potential assault on the core. Rendili's orbit has changed hands multiple times during the past 3 weeks. From what I hear, the fleet, while riding on near lossless victories, is suffering from supply issues. The imperial fleets in the area are starting to grow again. starting to threaten our relatively undefended southern front, and the thought of another muunilist-dathomir engagement terrifies me.

As a result, command has given the order for the formation of a new battlegroup, consisting of newer warships such as the MC80 Justice variant. "Artillery is going to be very useful where we're going", a caffienated Shack once said. The days of brawlers like The Arquent feel like they're coming to a close.

Anyway, after we curb-stomped Iridonia a few days ago, Bothan spies found out that the Empire has been hitting Ord Mantell hard. They have barely any defenses online in orbit. Ripe for the taking. The Avenger, Liberation, and Rebel One decimated whatever they had left sitting in space, including an old clone wars coreship. Those little "Balls" as Shack likes to call them are merely oversized shuttle craft. Of course, they were capable of being used as a command station; but still. Nothing a little SPHAT'ing can't handle.

Now came the hard part. The ground battle was tough. Leia sent a probing attack to test the waters, and was quickly overwhelmed by their sheer number of air units. The T-16 Skyhopper isn't a great air unit, but can pose a threat in large numbers. Leia was forced to retreat and wait for reinforcements to come in. Rieekan called for the Miller Artillery Unit to be used as field artillery, as well as a company of AA speeder tanks. With a new resolve, we pushed through the enemy lines. The AA decimated their Skyhoppers, while a coordinated strike from the Miller Unit decimated virtually anything that came into range. Seeing how this was their last stand, the black sun started charging at our troops, which were starting to count friendly casualties given how dug in they were. Though in the end, the planet was ours. The whereabouts of Prince Xizor are unknown, though it is believed he had died during the collapse of his palace. While the Miller Unit survived unscathed, the same cannot be said for Leia's unit. Taken quite a lot of casualties. I truly hope reinforcements arrive for them.

I've spoken with a few friends over at Sluis Van and Mon Cala. Apparently they're considering me coming back as a captain on one of the newer ships given how small our competent captain pool is. I'm... rather conflicted if I should go. On one hand, it'd be great to finally be back out there as a captain, but on the other, The Battle of Dathomir still haunts me to this day. I don't want to lose another ship, never again.

Well, the lasers have to go through yet again another maintenance cycle. Haven't done much but coordinate repairs. For now, Davon Cress signing off.
