If your battery dies replace it with a 94 Celica! 👍

If it costs 50% less, but lasts 75% as long, that sounds like a good trade-off.

I agree scotty. The owner before me on my Toyota Camry Hybrid replaced the AGM with some cheap alternative and the auxiliary systems (Ac, Radio, etc) all started to act weird one day. Figured out that the battery was the cause and after replacing it; my AC blew colder, my mpg got better, and I have better piece and mind With the new battery

My 2016 4runner still has the original battery (Panasonic) It still tests good, unbelievable!! Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦

I always get the one that has the most cold cranking amps

Yup! I knew my battery was going out on my Transit van. The van has been running rich and shifting weird this past week. Replaced the battery and it's back to running perfectly fine. My Silverado work truck? I started getting random errors like ABS and Stabilitrak failure a few days before the battery went as well. These newer cars are very sensitive to having the right amount of power.

Very true, a friend of mine has AAA and they had their AGM battery die on them and the AAA guy replaced it with a standard lead acid battery and all kinds of warning lights and squirrelly things started happening, then when they put in the OEM battery later on, it fixed it all!

In my 2016 sonata, I did replace one of those absorbed glass mat batteries, with a high quality regular battery. Saving myself $100. The reason I did that is the up trim models of my vehicle have tons of electronics and safety systems that can use the benefits and the longevity of a glass mat battery. However I have the basic car with none of those special systems, and it's been working fine for 2 years without any problems on a regular lead acid battery of the proper size. So yes if you have safety systems for systems that are running 24 hours protecting your car, I can see getting one of the new glass mat batteries. But if it's just the most basic version of that model with nothing special, I've had no issues with the regular lead acid battery that is in my car.

Cheap battery? That’s an oxymoron because there’s no such thing anymore! There’s only expensive and mega expensive!

Scotty, excellent advise as usual.
All computer systems in a car operate on a sliding scale of power that is very narrow.
When the battery or alternator power reaches a certain low level, systems start malfunctioning or simply start send out all kinds of warning codes that have nothing to do with the health of the part itself.
So when you see numerous codes or have a car system that is acting up, make sure the battery is healthy first and that the battery cables are cleaned and attached tightly.
To know if a battery is bad, you have to get it tested.
And when replacing it, always buy the same type of battery as powerful as you can get.

Question ? What about the constant output of 13.8 volts being supplied by the alternator ? The battery is used to start the car not supply a constant 13.8 volts. When starting the car, the voltage drops way down low until the car starts, then the alternator takes over and immediately provides 13.8 volts.

So what you're saying, is that engineers are the problem.

My 2011 Chevrolet Colorado originally came with a heavy duty battery. When it was time to replace it, the dealer said they only could put a regular battery in it because of a supply shortage. So they put one of those batteries that you use to start a small lawn mower in my truck. It worked, but all of the electrical stuff seem to be less robust. The wipers actually seemed somewhat lazy. And my remote lock system sometimes would not work. A couple months ago I got another new battery and this time I insisted it be a heavy duty one. When I put that one in, all the electrical stuff seems to be far more robust!

My 2013 GS 450H (hybrid) Lexus battery finally went car likely built in 2012 inJAPAN but then my 2012 Lexus continues to start every day. 10 years is pretty good battery life.

I always thought battery capacity and cranking amps were important, not whether it has liquid acid or glass mats that absorb it.
It’s more about resistance then the type of battery, just make sure they match the OEM specifications.

I have only used Interstate batteries for the last 20 years in all of my vehiches. I have been well pleased with Interstate batteries.

I started buying from Walmart same Johnson manufacturer that autozone had for 100 less so far they've been holding up years :)

AGM Battery doesn't corrode terminals and cables and hold down bracket. Switching to AGM will work in any 12 volt system.

That is why new high technology is making vehicles cost over 60K, ridiculous.

You car will not know if it has a conventional or AGM battery. AGM batteries typically are better quality but also more costly. The battery chemistry is exactly the same.
