💡Get better CarPlay with iPad + Shortcuts

Important notice: If anyone who are going to try this, then check if your ipad is wifi only or wifi + cellular. If it wifi only then dont do this because it does not have gps chip so your car doesnt move in the map and make this whole setup useless. I have tried this idea once but failed miserably coz my ipad was wifi only.

Ooh! I came across this video by accident and it reminded me of when someone installed a first generation iPad in place of the infotainment system in some 90s or 2000s car.

You could probably find an app that would make it, so the front camera was a dashcam recorder as well.

I did similar with a 10.5” pro back in the day. My car needed the built in screen to support charging and preheat etc so couldn’t replace it with something CarPlay compatible. Just made a drop in holder, WAY better

I remember the very first samsung tablet had a gps chip. I would enter my destination at home and take it with me, and it worked all the way until my destination.

İf you don’t have the lte version, you dont get real gps, which kind of kills the maps and most of the reasons why you wanna have ipad there

Did you just slice the apple folio case and then attach a glue mount to the back of the case?

Just replace the radio with an apple carplay radio. That ipad probably needs to run cellular and wifi
