I thought I had celiac disease for years turns out I wasn't allergic to gluten afterall but the pesticides they use on the non organic crops especially wheat. Glucosinate. I can happily eat organic wheat products now. Going vegan and kosher is really important but seriously a piece of organic vegan bread is so good once in awhile. Dave's killer bread is the best. organic is seriously crucial for people who really suffer from hyper allergies.

Instead of saying eat organic, wheres the work to just stop farming with GMOs and pesticides. If certain foods are killing us, instead of saying avoid, why aren't they banned?
Theres 2 issues here, the food and what we add or do to food. Take an egg, source of protein and essential vitamins, or heart attack? Battery confined, antibiotic riddled, vs free range vs vegan. It seems the more I hear the less I believe in what "experts" say.

Dr. Garth Davis hit the nail on the head when he said it's not so important whether you eat Oatmeal or some ancient grain or whether it's organic, has GMO's or not. He said he just wants his patients to stop eating the crap. And that's it really. It's more about stopping the eating of what our bodies don't handle well. For me, it is meat and dairy and processed sweets. I have taken BP meds for over 10 years and when I gave up those "foods" it came down to 121/78 within one week and has stayed there.

The organic push is so extreme and more relevant in some countries then other. In my country (African country) the foods you grow in your garden doesn't look different from the food in the shops. Then you travel, and you see the weirdest looking foods. Like shiny (smooth textured) and huge chicken. Or apples that look so perfect it looks plastic. And it is everywhere, to the point that you realize people actually don't know how it is supposed to look.
I think the sale of organic food in my country is useless.

We should not produce food in a non organic way.

What sort of bothers me about this is that Dr. Clement seems to be saying "Quinoa, teff, amaranth, etc. are superior to oats and wheat" and the other doctors seem to be saying "Yeah, but that's not really practical advice for most people."  Here's the thing; it really doesn't matter.  ALL whole grains are good for you.  Trying to figure out which are superior to others is uselessly wandering into the weeds.  If you can show me a study that proves that quinoa and teff will help me live longer than brown rice, corn, and oats I'll make sure to make the switch.  Otherwise, I'll just eat what I like, which, BTW, is ALL of the above named.

I’m not sure they answered “should we eat grains”, but they talked about other points about healthy nutrition.

Clement might be right (I don't know the exact science he is referring to throughout his speech), but his approach to getting this world to eat plant-based is not one that would work for many. If I had made my mom watch a video of his, my 75 year old mom would not have gone plant based. She did, thanks to McDougall, Klaper and Davis. They smile, they keep things simple, they don't scare you away...I sadly don't get the same vibe from Brian Clement.

I’m getting lost. Like wtf am I supposed to eat these days? Do I start to eat grass? Nothing seems to be perfectly healthy. Am I getting mad?

Whole grains can be healthy, just don't eat mostly grains. Veggies should outweight the grain portion. And of course, organic can sound healthier (we don't actually know, as most organic pesticide subs are not regulated or researched much), but affordability is also important for most... so... I'd say, grains (variety of whole grains) can be healthy part of a diet. Apart from animal stuff, I do not see how it would be beneficial to exclude food groups (as at the end we'll be left with nothing). Animal products are provenly bad. So those out. Veggies and legumes are awesome for us. So most of those in as much as possible. Fill in the rest with whatever grain or grain-like seed you want. (I prefer buckweat, but if I cannot afford it, I buy other stuff). Girl gotta eat

When you live 50 miles away from a Wholefood store, and you get there and find cremini mushrooms selling for $13 a pound, you lose your motivation to search out rare organic items.

I can get oatmeal by walking to the local grocery store which has it at a price that fits our family's budget. To get teff, I'd have to drive several miles through four cities to a nutrition market where everything doesn't fit our budget. Online is also too high-price of an option, especially at a risk of receiving a quality compromised product. Organic may be healthier but it's pricier.

2:28 The panelist is correct about the cost of organic grains. Organic oats are about twice the price of regular Quaker Oats. 1.5-2x the cost of non-organic is generally what I see.

I love oatmeal... with lots of brown sugar, heavy cream, raisins and walnuts and sometimes maple syrup and also skippy chunky peanut butter and orange marmalade

A papaya tree once grew in my home. When I ate the fruit, it was the first time that I realized the true taste of it. It was far far tastier than the papaya i buy from stores. I enjoyed eating a few from the tree.
The tree is no more now.

Agree. Lets work on cutting down the plastic, single use containers folks are drinking out of. Consider all these things as we work on a whole healthy lifestyle. Healthy Food, food production and packaging, pesticides on these healthy food...Man, such a uphill battle.
