April, this is such a real struggle. I find during covid I don't go anywhere, and writing about Netflix may get old. These were great reminders. I also sometimes look back on my past and try to remember interesting characters and situations. Great video!

One of my favorites is Audioslave’s “Show Me How To Live” where Chris Cornell sings from the perspective of an angry Frankenstein’s creature at Victor from ‘Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein.

Bring Me The Horizon have a couple great songs written based on entertainment like video games, a Netflix cult documentary and from the perspective of Mother Earth.

Some songs can start just because nothing is happening and inspiring you. "Nowhere man" by the Beatles is an example, and also "My guitar lies bleeding in my arms" by Bon Jovi deal directly with the lack of things to say.
Neil Innes also managed to write a fun song where nothing literally happens in the verses, and the chorus went like "And if it all sounds boring, then there's something wrong with the song. Or you." 🤣

i’ve noticed i have the opposite issue. im so quick to write about traumatic events, especially when i’m depressed. that’s when my writing is the best because i’m just so in my head. when i’m happy, it’s like… okay… what now? what do i write about?
