Absolutely worth every penny, if you want XGP just grab an SD card and install windows on it, I have no problem playing XGP games. It’s a remarkable handheld console!

The Steam Deck is phenomenal. I have a 4 year old boy, gaming was becoming a thing of the past, it was inconvenient, I didn’t have much time, and to be honest it was feeling like a chore. Then the Steam Deck changed absolutely everything.

I'm a console gamer and I can't wait to get a steam deck. It's gonna be my first and only entry into PC gaming because it's hard for me to use mouse and keyboard since I have mild cerebral palsy

I’ve had mine for a year now as of September, and I still think it was absolutely worth it. I bought the base model with plans to upgrade the Ssd, and while i still plan on doing it, SD cards are cheap and convenient enough that I haven’t felt the need to.

Still the best PC gaming handheld on the market.

It is worth it. It rejuvenated my love of gaming once again. If anyone believes that gaming just isn't fun anymore, go buy a Steam Deck and see if your perspective changes.

The weird battery draining issue may be the device struggling to tell what it’s actual battery power is, I had this problem with my switch early on when I frequently charged it using a plug port in a car. The battery seemed to die super fast, but I noticed the battery % would change whenever I restarted the thing.

After I stopped using the car plug to charge it (or at least did it rarely) then the problem eventually fixed itself.

The power bank may potentially be causing this problem but that’s my theory.

Plenty of games that aren't officially steam verified play perfectly well on deck. Sure some don't work at all and you may have to tinker a bit to get things working right but the "Unsupported" label is hardly definitive.

The Steam Deck is amazing. I have been using Linux since 2003 and it keeps getting better and better.

One of the best parts of the Steam Deck is repair-ability. Being able to get official replacement parts and be able to do the repairs myself means I can fix it when it breaks, maintain it for years to come and even do upgrades. I love it.

Weird, I thought the Steam deck was the most comfortable handheld I have ever used and much more comfortable and ergonomic in the hands than the rog ally.

I’ve just got one for £200 and as someone who doesnt have alot of experience with actual pcs (so I can only judge it as a self contained console) it feels incredible immediately. Build quality, game performance. Genuinely feels like I’m holding a ps4 in my hands at some points-

My tip as an owner of 2 Steam Decks. Go for the cheaper models. You can upgrade the SSD for cheap and it does not void the warranty or anything.

If you are into this channel then you can probably handle upgrading it with the right screwdriver for the job. Also, I find that the anti-glare screen on the 512gb model makes the screen look noticeably less sharp than the other models and doesnt really do much.

Battery life: I think the Deck is still much better compared to the others, Ally and Lenovo. And with the SteamOS behind, and the optimization, and for games in the 10-15w range, it runs better.
My 512 was pretty much worth it, July last year. I've put in hundreds of hours to the 4 digit range.
I have to admin, in the last half year I didn't use it as much as before but I also found a great benefit.
It does run dual boot Windows, and for a while windows drivers are working fine now. First for games running not great on SteamOS but I kind a like it as an internet machine, browsing etc. when plugged into the hub with a big screen.
On windows the Steamdeck runs better, more fluid compared to the SteamOS desktop, which I've tried out but was not a fan.

The 700 Euro was ok, (fantastic back then) a 400 Euro 64GB version is even now the best deal for your money, IMO.

There is one point which i found to ve opposite to me was the ergonomics. Because steam decks fits in your hand so well, going back to switch was painful. Yes switch is lighter but I don't game when im walking or in a crowded train so the deck felt way better for me to hold longer hours.

Just a slight upgrade would easier to press back buttons as i have smaller fingers and little bit more space between dpad and joysticks for fighting games

I don't play it all the time because I prefer to play on my desktop when I can, but I absolutely adore my steam deck when it's come in handy, especially traveling. Was never a big handheld guy except for the DS and GBA when I was a kid, but being able to play games like this anywhere is such a godsend. SteamOS also ended up being a much bigger boon to the deck than I expected and is probably a value that a lot of people underestimate. Also really love being able to play a game on my desktop and leave and be able to play the same save file on my deck with cloud saves.

I literally sold my ps5 for this thing and it’s a beast. maybe if modern games weren’t so bad i’d keep my ps5 tho. don’t regret my steam deck, game on it daily
