Compare this video to that of Kings and Generals. It’s amazing how the narrative can change depending on who is telling the story.

Caliphate’s to-do list:
- Conquer North Africa, check!
- Destroy the Sassanids, check!
- Stop the Byzantine counterattacks, check!
- Lay siege on Constantinople, still pending...

The golden age of the Arabs. All commanders were talented, especially Khalid bin Walid. There is almost no war they lost against Byzantium and the Sassanids.

At the same time that the muslims were conquering Egypt, the Byzantine Empire sent the first European embassy for over 500 years to China, which arrived in the year 643 AD. This embassy reignited Chinese contact with Europe, and from then on the Byzantine Empire was referred to as Fulin (拂菻) in Chinese sources.

Mobility was the greatest advantage of the Arab tribes I think the minor roles they played in the Byzantine and Sassanid armies as scouts really made larger powers underestimate the capability allowing them to strike from places believed to be impassable terrain mainly very inhospitable deserts.

Great video. There are a few details that are missing, however that only increases my curiosity and led me to do my own research. Great job. Keep it up.

Fun Fact: there was a roman companion of prophet Muhammad who fought alongside the prophet and lived during Abu Bakr, Umar, and Uthman's time buried in Madina.

At 3:49 does it make sense that AMR would insist 'both' on conversion 'and' paying a Jizzia tax as tasted in th is video? Surely the Muslim conquerors insisted on one or the other but not both?

Fun fact the Muslims were already at war with the Romans because of the Ghassanids ( a Roman puppet state), a messenger was sent to invite them to Islam; however, the messenger was killed thus starting the war. The war started with the Battle of Mu'tah. The Muslims lost the battle and retreated. After three commanders were killed Khaled ibn al Walid commanded the retreat.

The Byzantines had no fortifications or serious defence plan towards the south. Plus thy had recently reclaimed the area which was thoroughly devastated by the recent wars. It wasn't only a matter of force but also one of strategic geopolitical advantage.
