“Over in the corner, is Wilt and Michael Jordan. They’re sitting at a table, arguing vociferously as to who the greatest of all time was. Intense as could be. David Stern comes in the room and says, ‘Okay it’s time to go.’ Everyone is lining up to go and Michael and Wilt are still going at it.”

“They finally stand up, the conversation ends. Wilt, who always has the last word in everything, looks down at Michael and says, ‘Just remember, when you played, they changed all the rules to make it easier for you to dominate. When I played, they changed all the rules to make it harder for me to dominate.’”

I wonder if when Wilt said “maybe we can talk soon” he was talking about that time him and MJ were sitting at a table arguing who the best player ever wA 😂 I’m still weak af whenever I hear that story.

One can only imagine how epic that conversation was, MJ never mentioned it in none of his interviews!

I think the subtleties in this moment showcase quite a lot. Neither of these personalities would give an inch to each other. Jordan did not say anything disrespectful but you could read his body language. He wasn’t overly attentive, didn’t smile nor did he get worked up when wilt approached him. And wilt’s presence naturally commanded that type of attention amongst everyone else that night. That’s what happens when the two biggest alphas come face to face, what more can either say given they’re both “the man”.

MJ a historian of the game of basketball, he understands the importance of Wilt Chamberlains accomplishments, MJ didn't copy Kareem Abdul-Jabbar unstoppable hook-shot, he went with Wilt Chamberlain's unstoppable fade-away.
What's ironic is no one ever went up to Kareem and said, wouldn't you be better adding a fade-away to your skill-set?
They did with Wilt Chamberlain? Asked stupid questions, the most dominate shot-making player of any era and the sports broadcasters want to tell him that 50.4 points per game is not enough that year, you could have added more, by playing like someone who never came close to your accomplishments!
Look again at the picture of Wilt scoring a 100-point game and understand that's sweat dripping of his chin from trying so hard to score a record points, mainly because his teammates at the end wanted him to!
Wilt dominated every individual he played against him, but teams with several HOF's was to much even for him and the same thing happened with MJ throughout his carrer, individuals don't win championships, teams do!

This is the only moment I’ve seen Jordan look intimidated by another nba player

also keep in mind here that there's a big age gap between the two.
1936–1999

wilt is as old as michael jordans father james jordan sr
1936–1993

so basically michael can't joke around or be on buddy buddy terms with wilt as wilt is that much of a senior to michael jordan.
wilt is old enough to be mjs father.

Mike was shook. All the arrogance, and hubris he normally has on display was gone. He was frightened. Like seeing your Principal in public! He wanted to get outta there!

I’m the biggest Jordan fan trust me!!!I think there’s only one person that would have a chance against him and that’s Chamberlain and in that interview with Bill Walton the conversation was prob heated ! Atwood GOATS 🐐you could tell on Jordan’s face it shut him down and I think he realized that he’s not the best of all time and wilts got a point !! I thought Jordan should’ve shown a little more respect for Wilt for what’s he’s done for the game and it was nice of WILT to go up to Jordan and say something, That’s just my opinion but it’s was a quick clip . I would’ve loved to seen that conversation
