Wilt was better at the game than Jordan in pretty much every conceivable metric. He was also a much better athlete (his lifts at 275 lbs made Shaq look small) and MUCH bigger. People talk about Jordan's hands being big - Wilt made his hands look like a childs. They banned dunking during free throws because only Wilt could do it lol. That dunk that Jordan pulls off in Space Jam, was about as close as Jordan ever got to pulling off a Wilt dunk.

Jordan would have been a Jump shooter in the 60s and 70s NBA . Guys like Russell and Wilt would have damaged him in the paint on any Dunk Attempts. 💯💥

Like Wilt said, Jordan was a rare specimen but it would have been in his best interest to stay outside and not come in the paint. He never said Jordan wasn't great and that he couldn't play in Wilt's era, just that it was more physical; like when he complained about Detroit Pistons being too physical. Bird, Magic, Barkley, Dominique Wilkins, Kareem, Karl Malone, John Stockton, Patrick Ewing, and a whole NBA roster of all-star didn't like Detroit Pistons; but they never complained about their style of play. Only Jordan complained, all you heard from Bird, Magic, or other NBA players say was that they didn't like them. Jordan went in to details why he didn't like them; yet he ended up playing with 3 Detroit Pistons players. Ironic that you only hated Isiah Thomas and not John Salley, James Edwards, or Dennis Rodman; just Isiah Thomas. If you go look at videos from the past, Bill Lainbeer, Rick Mahorn, John Salley and other players on Detroit Pistons fouled Jordan harder and rougher, not Isiah Thomas. If you look at videos from the past Isiah Thomas took nasty elbows from Karl Malone, Magic Johnson, Bill Cartwright, and other NBA players just like Jordan took.

I realize folks under 50 will have a hard time ‘grasping’ what Wilt said.
I’m sure Jordan would be great in any era and would have drove to the basket
on occasion…but the game has changed from Wilt’s time where it would be unwise to go to the ‘bucket’ without some size. If you watch the game when Centers like Wilt, Wes Unseld, Nate Thurmond, Willis Reed, played, they would give up a foul and ‘hammer you’ …

Jesus Christ Michael played against the most skilled and strongest centers the league has ever seen. That’s what makes his dominance so incredible. He’d a been dunking on all of them. Especially going against the older perimeter defenses. Like scary. Jordan is getting to the point where he’s being underrated because so much time has passed. He is up there with Phelps and even Gretzky as the greatest at their respective sports.
